If I we're to make a Wild West game, how could I make it vary from the current "Wild West" Roblox game?

So. Was planning a project with my current team. We want to make a game similar to the Wild West game, but we’re not sure how to go about it without making an almost exact replica to the current game.

I haven’t thought of any solutions to this so far. It’d also be helpful to know how we could make some money from a game like this.

(P.S, if you have any feedback on a Wild West setting, e.x, “Sandy turf, maybe some mountains or canyons in the background”, this would help too.)

Any feedback helps, thanks!

Well Wild West is in the olden times so maybe you should just change the timeline. Like maybe you can make it in the future, further in the past, Or just in a different universe or expected map. And you could also make it based on different genres cause theirs is in the Wild West and you could make yours (I don’t have any ideas for genres right now). Hope this helps. Good luck!

I think what you could prioritize from the start is performance, wild west was not made for low end devices and can probably not support them in the nearest future(srsly, the minimum requirements say you need 8GB of ram), not that it’s unoptimized, it just has too many features and small little details to really bring out the polish of the game.

If you can pull off a game with a similar aesthetic while still keeping it a separate game with unique features (you have lots of room for that) and keep it performance friendly to be at least playable on mid-high end mobiles then you’d both have your own successful audiences, otherwise it’s going to be hard to compete if you “face them head on” and try to copy everything and make it better

Seeing as you’re looking to a popular sort of game that took place for real this is kind of hard. Seeing as the Wild West as we know it was very crazy and almost total anarchy. But from my research as someone interested in that era I found out that’s no the case.

How ever big studios like Rock Star game it more interning by exaggerating their gameplay and story. When big studios like that work on it they usually take most of the good ideas then we see the trickle down like Roblox games use some of their ideas.

To make your own idea you need someone or something to be the person telling what happened that can morph into anyone or anything. So I’d recommend using folk songs to take inspiration from cause they have a lot of tall tales. You can also use Movies, TV shows, book, etc.

Over all it will be hard to come up with a “new” concept without making another clone but the only thing that will set you apart might be a feature. Like add NPCs that walk and talk like Alone. Or the feature to create your own squad. Or maybe even Wild West themed group and solo mini games. Best of luck to you!

A lot of other games have been made about the Wild West, the current most popular one doesnt mean anything as you don’t need to 180 everything. Think about how you want to take your game and add what you want to it. It’s okay to use other ideas from other games as their idea likely isn’t original— you are allowed to use an idea and add it to the broad genre, just improve upon it. You can even look at other actual games like red dead for ideas

Make sure to consider, the Wild West wasn’t all in the deserts! Consider maybe the mountains and I would suggest especially the snowy aspect in the mountainous setting, which I haven’t seen on Roblox to date. There are lots of different Western styled games but think outside of the box for the best chance to become unique. Below are some reference photos of the style and I hope this helps you in any way, Good luck and keep us posted with your progress! Mountain2

How about a storyline?

It’s something I’d love in The Wild West.

Yeah. The game would ultimately be a free roam game. With multiple different biomes, varying from each other. (e.x, grass lands, swamp, snowy mountains, etc etc)

It sounds cool! Good luck on it and keep us posted, i’d love to check it out!
