If walking, animation should override leg movement during animation

I have made an animation for swinging a hammer for my physics game. The animation works well when idle but during the walking animation I want the legs to normally be walking and I’m planning to make it work with a custom walking animation.

It would be best if I did not have to make new animations for walking and swinging, so I’m possibly looking for some script.

I have not thought of any solutions, but I did try to learn a bit more about weight and priority, but it didn’t help too much. It would be nice if somebody could explain that, too!

don’t move the legs, just move the arms. that’s what they do in most games anyway
