So my understanding is that even when you transfer group ownership to another player, the things (models, places, etc.) that you created yourself you still retain copyright over, just that you must allow the group owner access to the game and to be able to edit it as much as they want as well as publish it? But anything that you made yourself, you still have copyright over and are free to expand on it as much as you want outside of the group?
When assets are uploaded to groups it is owned by the group, however, each asset shows the player who uploaded the asset as well. By transferring ownership of the group to another Roblox User you get demoted to the lowest role (member) removing all your permissions in said group disabling access to group places and assets.
I am not a lawyer, I am not educated to give legal advice, and for actual legal advice regarding copyright I would consult a lawyer if you are really concerned about the copyright topic.
I understand that, but even if you no longer have access to the group places themselves,
I believe whatever you contributed to still by copyright also belongs to you and you can do whatever you want with it, provided you still have access to the place somehow (e.g. studio). Just making sure that this is the right case? Thanks for your answer.
If your talking about actually having a copy of the Roblox Studio file for a game and reuploading it, I’d definitely consult a professional, I’d love to help more but this isn’t really a publicly covered topic and I don’t want to steer you wrong.
By standard copyright law, I believe whatever you create is copyrighted to you automatically, but Roblox has the license and rights to distribute and use it as they wish, including the right to allow other users to distribute and modify them on the platform (group games), but that still doesn’t erase any copyrights- I just want to make sure that this is correct. Thanks for your answer again, I appreciate the help.
