My game has been relatively popular, but has been becoming increasingly empty recently. I think that it’s because it doesn’t have a progression, which causes players to lose interest after a while. How do I incorporate this well without becoming a simulator?
one thing I’ve noticed is that some simulators don’t have a lot of content. Their “replayability” comes from rebirths and things like that. Obviously this isn’t viable for all types of games, but one thing you can do is try to have a lot of content in your game but have a level progression system that awards players new items on level. Depending on your game, could be cosmetics, weapons, consumables, etc.
Using an incentive, like quest rewards and levels. Keep it fresh, nobody wants to see what happened like with jailbreak and madcity. Also listen to your playerbase, look at games like rust, they are known for listening to their playerbase but still maintaining a fair balanced game.
Now to avoid losing playerbase, remember that having too overpowered gamepasses will make f2p players fed up. Having repetitive content will bore all players so while adding more stages or levels to your game is great, its still the same thing; as I said before, try to keep it fresh. By all means add in that new stage and more levels, but make it interesting, make it something people haven’t seen before, You want to WOW them.
There are many ways to keep interest you just have to find the sort of incentive that really makes your game a new experience, these sort of new experiences is what really makes a game addictive.
Theres nothing useful I can really suggest without knowing what the game is.
Thats always a great idea but changing the world everytime players start getting bored will make them fed up of having to relearn where everything is. It will work, but only for so long.
true, been done too many times tho. its a classic [New world] bubblegum sim, [New World] Mining sim, [New stage] power sim, [New Map] phantomforces. When you play the games and you see this. If your bored of the content you wouldnt play just because of a new map. its an issue of gameplay, not adding more locations. If the gameplays no good, adding more maps means you just have more space of terrible gameplay.
You can beat around the bush but end of the day, if you got a core issue with gameplay. The only solution is to address it rather than trying to distract them.
ill agree, I get the game is in development but in the spawn room you can see a futuristic city, yet after teleporting we are on a flat plain with basic normal planes. The planes are so simple dispite being the key feature of the game, I do like the in flight gui, but you have a long way to go before its a full fledge game.
A draft of what I think should be on your to do list.
Rework Plane spawning system to hangars.
New Plane Models
New Spawn Area (I like the view but its still not enough)
Map Overhaul (New Map, Add Materials)
Better Tutorials (Talking to npcs like that is old news)
Rework of transition between areas (Touch pad is unrealistic)
City revamp (It looks ok but its just missing a lot of tlc, looks rushed)
Planes landing gear should go up
Gamepass ‘heat seaking launcher’ will be too op. It shouldnt be instantly obtainable
Weapons are all other players creations, Make something original
possible objective:
Destroy npc bases for missions.
Future features:
Get plane components and weapons so you can customise you plane
And DONT use other players models. It looks bad on you as the game creator and they are too often used.
If thats the case, put more care into it, some of your stuff looks good, but others look like you spent 2 minutes throwing them together. It could potentially be a good game, but its too early to tell and theres a lot of work between now and official release to decide that
