Okay, so I recently posted on the “What are you working on currently” thread with some pictures of a place I’ve been building the past two weeks - when it suddenly hit me… Why not use the forums to get ideas from the general public?
If you’ve ever played Sleeping Dogs, and wonder what this game will be like, or where it was even based off of - it’s based off of both Sleeping Dogs, and Triad Wars (was to be Sleeping Dogs’ successor - got cancelled), and a little bit of real life here and there.
Anywhooo basically what I’m looking for feedback on is music (there will be radios ingame, so post some songs you want to see!! I’m looking for all types of music, so feel free to post what you’re into!), critiquing / constructive criticism, and overall thoughts on current progress!
Yeah I agree, I really need to find a way to get better looking trees. Not a lot I can do at the moment about it.
I’ll look into some alternatives though!!
As for a link to the place - I temporarily took it down to work on some updates(city expanding, new features). I think I’ll have it out by Friday or Monday though.
This is the music that people have wanted at my city: Trello
It isn’t really managed by me, I just make sure they don’t post completely stupid things, so I take no responsibility for the terribleness of things there.
They SHOULD be sorted by genre and be of the form SONGNAME - (Optional)ARTIST if you wanted more organisation with them.
This seems pretty interesting, but some fix advice:
skybox and lighting revamp would make things more phenomenal as seen by the legendary @Sofloann
the road needs more life like the buildings
trees looks copy/pasted, differentiate!
it’d be more cool if we could visit different stores throughout the map instead of having it all in one GUI; the game then just becomes a grind to get all the items already seen in the all given store, where it could have been finding shops with all variety of different weapons, etc.
please don’t forget about the feel of the vehicles (if there are vehicles)
please don’t forget about the feel of the guns, we don’t want it like 2009 shooting (thanks treyreynolds)
Just some advice, criticism, whatever you want to name it. Do or do not.
I can say that there will be stores! Going to stores will offer different incentives than the marketplace found in the GUI.
As for roads, I plan on having construction sites here and there.
As for the vehicles - there will be vehicles, however I’m still looking into how I’ll go about with the functioning of them.
Lastly - the weapons.
They’ve already been made (finished two days ago actually)
I think you’ll be pleased to hear that they are not like 2009 shooting.
Seeing as this game is heavily Inspired by the game Sleeping Dogs, i have just one request.
PLEASE add the radio stations complete with Commercials in Mandarin. It was one of my favorite parts of that game. Sometimes I would have the game run in the background just to listen to it.
Edits made were to correct errors made by autocorrect.
will this be a replica of the real life hong kong, or is it just inspired by the real world city? i ask because hk has some really cool architecture, especially its 300m+ supertall skyscrapers. i really like cities with big, interesting skylines, and it’d be nice to see some of hong kong’s iconic buildings in your place.
Good question - this Hong Kong is inspired by both the virtual one found in Sleeping Dogs, and the real one.
So with that being said, honestly, it depends on what section you’re in.
So you’ll see many famous buildings from the Bank of China tower and the HKCEC building, or like Goverment House, to Prince of Wales Building.
As for monuments and statues, you can expect to see some of those too such as the Bruce Lee statue, and the statues of the Royal Family, to the statue of Themis on the Court of Final Appeals/Ex LegCo building.
You should kill or heavily cut down the bloom / lighting during pretty much anything other than complete darkness if you haven’t already. One really easy way to kill your atmosphere / immersion is to have random light / bloom where it shouldn’t be.
