A recent update to Roblox Studio added a search bar in the image picker. This conveniently makes it easier for a lot of people to browse through existing textures with a keyword. However, the list fails to display correct textures when searching.
Empty search field
The image list shows the first images I uploaded to the place.
Search field with keyword “Beam”
The image list displays incorrect thumbnails for every image. It shows the thumbnails for the first images I uploaded to the place.
Search field with keyword “Crack”
The first image on the list has the correct thumbnail, while the other images after have incorrect thumbnails.
Reproduction Steps
- Open a place in studio that has multiple images (I used the search bar on my place with at least 80+ images uploaded. I tried it on a place with less images uploaded and the thumbnails worked.)
- Create an Instance with the
Image
orTexture
property - Click the property and type any keyword with respect to the image/s you’re trying to find with the search field.
Expected Behavior
The thumbnails should display the correct image for the texture when using the latest search feature for the image picker.
Actual Behavior
Using the latest search feature for the image picker makes the image list fail to display correct thumbnails when searching for a texture, especially in places with considerably large amounts of images uploaded.
Workaround
Currently, I don’t have any workarounds for the issue. Sometimes, thumbnails would load correctly after scrolling down to the bottom of the image list before searching, though this will often fail and is not reliable.
