The problem:
Recently I released a game where players can enter decal ids and display them in booths, but unfortunately I’m running into issues with lots of NSFW content popping up.
What I wanted to know:
Does Roblox display images that have not been moderated yet?
Basically I wanted to know if it’d safe to only allow images that are 3 days or older to be shown in-game in order to allow time for moderation.
I would prefer to allow users to be able to use their own images, but I can have a pre-selected list of images if Roblox cannot properly moderate images.
Thanks in advance to anyone who’s able to give insight!
No, Roblox does display images that have not yet been moderated. When a user uploads a decal, it may be visible in game immediately or after a short delay, even if it hasn’t gone through moderation yet.
Allowing only decals that are 3 days or older is a good step, However, Roblox’s moderation times can vary. Some images might take longer than 3 days to be reviewed, especially during busy periods. Even after moderation, there’s still a small chance that harmful content could slip through due to errors.
Good solutions that I’ve seen people do is Adding a reporting feature for players to report inappropriate content. When a booth is reported, it could be flagged and hidden until either you or your moderation team reviews it. Alternatively, you could restrict users to selecting decals from a pre-approved list. While it limits customization, it guarantees complete control over the content displayed in your game and eliminates any risk of inappropriate material. make sure to also include clear rules in your game that remind players they are responsible for the decals they upload. While this won’t fully protect you, it shows that you’ve taken steps to enforce a safe environment, which could work in your favor if an admin investigates your game.
