Important Updates: Unrated Experiences and Changes to Experience Pages

Despite the claim that “notable experiences” that are “classic” will be maintained, there are many smaller ones that are important/relevant, even the ones that can’t be considered either of what I have just described still have importance because they are “time capsules” which shows the culture of the world and the technology ROBLOX had at the time. (There are many more reasons as to why these are important.)

You guys are handling this like how you handled Experimental Mode in 2017, disappointed to see that you’re still susceptible to knee-jerk responses that aren’t effective in the long term and just harm the active playerbase. Good job.

i have a couple hundred <100 visits games in my favorites that i just really like (i like weird esoteric stuff if you dont mind) and it’d be stupid if they all got closed all because of parental ignorance.

examples include: meat, dust and bones - Roblox
brick world - Roblox

most wont care about those games but random people like me probably do. at the very least block unrated games to those under 13. the games aren’t the problem, its the boundaries that are. its like letting your kid go on a roller coaster called “The Killer Machine” or someting and calling for it to be turned into this

after your kid gets scared or hurt on it, instead of y’know, just having common sense and not letting your kid on it?

end of rant, sequels may or may not come

All this does it hurt the wrong people.

Even though they may be unplayable, there should still be the option to access the place file in Studio.

Right? I think the best option is to add a parental control to toggle whether unrated experiences are deemed playable or not to the child’s account, not make it unplayable for everyone despite their maturity / age, or just make unrated experiences automatically 17+. Although I believe the first option is the most common sense one.

Horrid , can’t wait for 99 percent of classic games to become lost media. Lets be honest y’all aren’t preserving anything under a million visits or so

You don’t understand how many well-made games have gone unnoticed for years and aren’t popular enough for Roblox to notice, they could at least just make unrated games 17+

This literally makes me start to cry. We care so much about our players and there’s these evil people at the top not doing anything responsible and think the money will save them. When they find a parent in their path, I hope they know how Karma works. This all sucks.

I think this must just be a bug on their end. I only received this notification once on August 14th, and never again, after I updated the questionnaire.

The two games you listed as examples don’t violate anything, I just tried to play them.
Very weird game is just an obby. Convince the crazy maid doesn’t have anything romantic in-game. If you meant to emphasize the thumbnails only then I can partially see why crazy maid would violate it but it still is very loose according to Roblox’s policies: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203313410-Roblox-Community-Standards#romantic-and-sexual-content. The maid doesn’t engage in anything explicit nor is the thumbnail suggesting anything (could just be me).

why not automate it? Why should I waste my time on EVERY public game because you pushed a lame update?

cough cap cough

While I know this isn’t exactly your point, this is one of the main (developer related) issues with Roblox, compared to other platforms. The issue is that every platform as a primary audience, and this controls what gets shown on the front page of the given platform. Steam has the best diversity in this regard, however, it also means that a game only gets a few days of front-page time.

Watch this for more info, regarding Steam:

But the reason I think this is worse on Roblox, than other platforms, is because Roblox’s primary audience are children under <13 who play on mobile devices. This essentially makes it incredibly difficult, for any experiences not designed for that audience, to make an appearance on the front page.

If Roblox really wants to even out its playerbase, they should invest into improving the front page, home page, and search functionality, to show experiences that are more relevant to a user of that given age and device. The search functionality should also strive to be as useful as Steam’s. We still don’t even have tags for experiences yet.

If you are breaking all unmaintained games anyway might as well do the heavy engine refactoring thats overdue since its not like the games it will break will be public anyway

Every single weird or NSFW game I’ve seen has been rated as “All ages”

I understand what you’re saying! I just thought that I would point out that games that are rated for very young children tend to have insinuations within their game or thumbnail, which can lure certain bad figures in. Both of those games pop up when you search up “xyz”.

I should’ve specified that in the post. Here’s some screenshots of other inactive games that the same developer made:

Yeah but it’s slacktivism, it’s not really accomplishing anything.. it doesn’t tackle the head on issues of the VERY POOR moderation practices and standards of this platform!

I don’t mind if the experience is not joinable, the gamepasses matters for those who play pls donate games. Privated experiences does not show up in the game

I remember reading it in a dev forum post. I don’t really look at Roblox news anywhere else otherwise.
