So I am working on making something and I am wondering how do I import a .obj file to Roblox.
I am making a truck for my truck game and when I make it I would like to import it into the game as soon as I make it, I have seen a post on how to make a basic car and I am thinking of doing that. then its just basically the same thing for the other trucks and AI trains and stuff. Anyways. That is basically everything I have to say.
First of all, you’re gonna have to open Asset Manager in the View tab, then click the upload button and select the file you’d like to import.
(This image is not mine)
Do I insert it on a part or just plop it in to studio?
You can insert its mesh id in a meshpart or I think it’s also possible to just click on it in the asset manager.
but do I have to put it into a part? or no? I’m just wondering about that
No, not a normal part. But you can put it in a meshpart
So I just have to add in a meshpart?
Yes, insert a meshpart into workspace, then go to its mesh id property, then insert a mesh id or click the file button to import your mesh directly
I using smart mesh importer
press the upload button as illustrated in the first reply
select the OBJ file you want to upload and click ok
wait for it to show up in your asset manager
it’ll look like this
double click it and it’ll add it as a mesh part. you may need to adjust the texture manually.
