Recently, in an event where an account got breached, our project group got completely taken over and took over 24 hours (after begging publicly here on the DevForums ) to get action taken by Roblox (more info here: Group Game bypassed and Roblox isn't doing anything about it)
My suggestion is to create a 7-day processing period for anything to do with extreme decisions on Roblox groups. One of these includes Group Ownership Transfer.
If there was a 7-day period, we would’ve been able to report it, and Roblox could’ve done something without having to go through the work of restoring the group after all the damage occurred. It doesn’t make sense to me that the group owner can be immediately transferred to someone else.
When Roblox had a moderation error where plugins were getting large numbers of well-known developers terminated without question, groups were immediately allowed to get taken over. This required a ton of restoration work, so action was taken to ensure that terminated accounts had a large processing window to be cleared up before anything like this could happen again.
I just don’t want this to have to happen to anyone like it did to my team. It was an extremely stressful 24 hours, and I don’t want people to have to feel completely hopeless like I did. Thanks
This is one of the most neccessary and imminent feature requests. I’ve lost over $400 myself, and have known people who lost more than $400 because someone hacked the group’s account holder, transferred ownership to themselves, then continued to mine all the profits from the game for the time it was down. Not to mention, after the group is overtaken, roblox is typically nothing but useless. If the group owner could cancel this ownership transfer within the 7 days, it would deter almost all of these issues.
The link to the group which I lost (and still do not have access to) is this:
We had to move the game to our development studio’s group instead of the community group since roblox wouldn’t restore the group owner even after multiple emails and automated responses… thanks a lot for being useless, roblox.
The other person I know who experienced this just this weekend is @MatrixPlaysRB. Matrix’s account got hacked and his game and community got a serious scare. Roblox restored the group for him luckily, but this feature would have deterred a lot of that scare.
Edit: Roblox didn’t restore the group, the hacker who did it gave it back to him saying he “did it to raise awareness of account security” or something.
I’m sure there are a million other people with a story like this, and I’m sure all of them include lots of stress in getting ahold of roblox and trying to get anything to happen.
This makes some sense. I’d hate for someone to get a hold of my account login and then transfer one of my groups away without me being able to recover it.
I do a good job keeping my computer free of malware and my accounts secure, though I feel that getting hacked is not a matter of whether it can happen, but when.
There was already a similar feature request where the group owner’s account pin would be required when initiating a transfer.
