As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to get discoverability for yourself and your new games. Ads seem to be the only way but they should only be there for people to boost their spotlight. This is a big issue as it prevents newer and innovative developers from getting the support they deserve, and without that support they don’t get the motivation they need and eventually give up because they feel like what they are working on is pointless.
This isn’t because their game is bad because that can be fixed as they learn to enhance their game, and sometimes that is even done with a community backing them up, but the fact that they fear no-one will ever enjoy or even see their work that they have put all their effort into, whether it’s well made or not.
So, how can it be fixed? Well first of all, bring back the Explore section on the Roblox website, I think it was called that, so that smaller games can be found. Second, make a section for games in the DevForum so people can promote and get feedback on their game in a well monitored environment. Not only will this benefit developers but Roblox as a whole as it will increase diversity. The only way to get popular is to spend loads on ads, which isn’t even guaranteed to work, or to make a meme game. The sense of innovation and originality is slowly slipping away. And while this doesn’t apply to every game, it still applies to the majority.
