Improved Asset Management Process Now Live

Asset archiving is now completely live. It is no longer possible to load these assets in game and any existing thumbnails will be removed within the next few weeks.

It’s awesome that it’s finally out but was there any reason for it to release 5 days past its scheduled release without any context?

There were no technical blockers – we just forgot to turn it on.

Don’t really wish to bump this up, but considering how severe this is I’d rather that than let this get buried. It has been over a month and a half after the initial “we aim to complete all such requested removals within 30 days” response.

My initial email went under the structure of...

Places
Audio
Meshes
Models
Decals
Pants
Shirts
T-Shirts
Group Assets

The response detailed that places and models wouldn’t be handled by Roblox. Considering the places section was rather short, it was easily possible to see past that section and see the audio and the meshes. However, it seems everything past the models section, which is a lot larger, was left untouched.

I’m not sure if this is a matter of just needing more time, or if the people handling the IP email thought everything past that point was more models. It was rather long of a section, so I wouldn’t blame them too much if they thought it was just more models to the end of the email, especially since my email is just one of many.

Secondly, I’ve detailed in my previous reply how there are still a lot of assets lingering from what was removed, not just in my account but across many. They were made harder to access, but they’re still floating around in a lot of places. Is there any information regarding this? Even a simple response saying that this is being looked into, and will be kept in mind if issues do come up, would be a huge relief.

It’s been well over 3 months (4 if you’re including the developer preparation timeline) since any noise has been generated in regards to the thread. Just posting for updates.

Asset archiving took effect initially for decals, meshes and audio on August 15th, 2019. That being said, I currently find myself needing to archive other kinds of unused assets that are bloating my inventory such as plugins, animations and models. Is this on the backburner or am I going to have to write a feature request for expansion to these assets?

I have also noticed that Roblox successfully vanishes archived assets from your profile, which is great. On the other hand, archived games still show up on your profile as do their related places (including the start place). Is there any plan to vanish games from inventories too or is that another feature request? Seeing a clean Studio landing page is lovely but seeing those places in my inventory is not so much; I’d like my places inventory to reflect what I’ve archived and not just like decals, meshes and audio do, rather than displaying all 320+ of my places regardless.

I find it still hard to find my assets because archived items still show up in studio…

Does anyone know if this actually is a working feature? I’ve archived a ton of meshes, and it’s been 2 months but they’re still showing up in-game. Going to the Asset’s “Mesh Part” page, it shows the broken thumbnail & Roblox+ can’t access the Asset’s “Mesh” page, but it appears the “Mesh” is still unarchived, but the “Mesh Part” is archived.
