Improvements for my Castle!

Hello everyone ! So, i started working on this castle few days ago, and once i arrived to this result, i didn’t know what else should i add to this castle. I would gladly take any suggestions to add, or changes to make.
I’ve been pretty busy with school so i kind of rushed it everyday… What do you guys think ?

I like it. Maybe thin windows on the sides of the castle towers that sort of look out. Also maybe a second little inner wall that allows guards to patrol and walk along the ramparts?

Heres an example of the windows (idk if there is a real name for these sorry): image

Well it honestly depends on the kind of theme of the castle (i.e. is it functioning as a home or something like being designed at the frontier, where it should be able to hold in battle).

Personally, I’m an avid lover of the medieval European era, and as such, to put it blatantly, I dislike castles with those designs of just walls and towers.

Regardless of what kind of castle it would be, it wouldn’t be just a house surrounded by walls, the walls just serve as protection. If it was a balance, the walls would be around the city that it’s situated in, with maybe a smaller wall surrounding the castle itself to ward off the plebeians and people of lower standing.

In towers like those, they’re usually have windows were archers have the ability to both look through these without the danger of being shot at, whilst also being able to shoot through, this being done with a nice little “+” cross.

The walkways on the walls should also, realistically, be able to hide away archers that are crouching, so maybe make them a bit larger (the barrier thing around them).

Try have a look at the kind of castle you’re going for, I don’t want to give too many ideas related to war to find out that it’s meant to be a home in a completely different era.

It honestly looks pretty good! :slightly_smiling_face: The only thing that might be worth changing is making the walls a bit higher.

Yeah this is definitely gonna help improving the castle, once again it’s only because of school and the limit of time, i couldn’t make it any better. But i’ll work on it and apply your suggestions.
Thanks for the feedback

It looks perfect, I don’t think it requires any improvement but still you can add windows in tower if you wanna make it better.

I would suggest adding little patterns on the walls for bricks, not something big just a little something here and there.

Hmm, I think you need to make it… more bigger. Add rooms, etc etc. The most I like is the Doors, that awesome. Add like sword, a shield, admin commands. And more, think ideas.

It looks nice, it’s clean and simplistic. Just make the castle bigger and add details in to it like windows.

Looks nice!

One thing I’d like to note is don’t rush yourself while modelling!
Take the time you need to perfect it all.

It seems like the others provided the feedback I would suggest though, so I’d say: keep up the great work and don’t forget to show us progression!! Would probably be ideal on Twitter.

Oh! You totally should add a Gatehouse where your current gate is, many consider that to be one of the most important factors to the castle wall’s fortification. These beasts keep out unwanted guests who seek to enter through the front door via the use of murder holes and other neat contraptions.

Another thing is a Keep, there’s got to be something to defend for there to be the fortifications there in the first place.

Unfortunately, they don’t exactly have a single name. I’ve heard them called, “Crenel windows”, “Loopholes”, “Arrowslit” and “Embrasure”. Arrowslit seems to be the most commonly accepted name.

Edit: I just realized this was a reply, please don’t take it as such, I was initially trying to reply to kinkocat, but then decided to contribute to the post.

I got the idea from Skyrim so my knowledge on the topic is minuscule, thanks for the info

I honestly think that looks epic but, if you want you can mount some weapons like crossbows on the towers or if your going for a low-poly themed castle add some bricks on the walls but make sure they are widespread. :+1:

I was planning to add that, Thanks for the feedback

Already working on it, and thanks for the feedback it really cheers me up
