I’m currently the developper of Rocket Wheels which is a rocket league like game and I wanted to get feedback on how to improve engagment.
We average a playtime of 4 - 5 minutes (which translate to 1 match) and even tho there are a lot of new users because of search results our retention is 50% below average.
I would want to hear how the game feels and stuff that you find boring/should be added.
Some people suggested game modes and such but this doesn’t tackle the main problem as I don’t believe a game needs gamemodes to be fun.
this is crazy i just played this a few hours ago roblox are you tracking me
anyway my main suggestion is make the game easier
yes yes i know im gonna “master it” if i try hard enough, but most people do not have that motivation, if i can barely touch the ball, I have no chance of scoring, which makes the game has no reward, and with the average attention span of a 6-12 year old, they won’t play for very long, so I would suggest either adjust some settings (such as turning rate, i find myself overturning/underturning a lot) or just minor tweaks such as making the goal/ball bigger
another thing is you can add more rewards, oh you shot at a goal but missed? heres a reward anyway! this motivates the player a tad bit more and improves engagement
About the master it part, we wanted to go that route at first but we saw that it wouldn’t work recently.
This is also backed off of a similar game by the same owner. Its a soccer game so its not cars but players instead and the quality is pretty bad but the engagment and retention are way higher cause its easier. You just control the default roblox character and hit the ball.
I’m gonna look into making the game easier for new players so the controls are a bit more straight forward on mobile and potentially some aim assist and such. Also a lot of the time the ball just gets flinged everywhere.
