In Client Server Test from Studio, on server tools do not weld when equipped

  • Describe the bug. Describe what is happening when the bug occurs. Describe what you would normally expect to occur.

When testing using the client-server test from studio (Test->Start) with filtering enabled if your avatar equips a tool, on the server the handle is brought into the workspace but not welded to the avatar. The end result is, on the server, the tool falls until it hits the kill plane and is destroyed. On the client this looks like you are holding your tool for a little while and then it disappears.
I would expect it to behave as it does when playing from the website where it is welded on the client and the server.

  • How often does the bug happen (Everytime/sometimes/rarely)? What are the steps that reproduce the bug? Please list them in very high detail. Provide simple example places that exhibit the bug and provide description of what you believe should be the behavior.

Everytime.
Edit Private - Roblox.
Test->Start with 1 Player. While watching the server window equip your tool on the client; you’ll see the tool fall past the avatar on the right.

  • Where does the bug happen (www, gametest, etc) Is it level-specific? Is it game specific? Please post a link to the place that exhibits the issue.

It’s happened in every filtering enabled place I’ve tried to look for it in.

  • Would a screenshot or video help describe it to someone? If so, post one.

  • When did the bug start happening? If we can tie it to a specific release that helps us figure out what we broke.

I think within the last two weeks or so. I only started noticing it in the last few days.

  • Anything else that you would want to know about the bug if it were your job to find and fix it.

Can confirm bug. It seems like it only repros in Studio Server + Player, but not on an actual live game.

Can you verify that it seems to work correct in-game?

Yep, in-game is fine. Just makes it hard to develop.

Same issue. Only happens on test servers and is perfectly fine on live servers.

Yeah I’m not dismissing this, I just wanted to verify the symptom because it helps my identify which parts of the networking code could be doing naughty things. I’ve forwarded it to the engineer responsible.
