Roblox has it’s ‘Star program’ to keep the platform thriving whilst giving small rewards to it’s creators. My team have had the recent idea to put something similar into a game.
What is the idea?
• Creators of our choice are given a code that players can use when purchasing in-game products
• A small % of that product purchase is given to the creator who’s code was used
• In return, that creator makes content on our game every month or so
Is this even allowed?
I’ve looked at Roblox’s ToS, and there’s nothing that vividly states this is not allowed. The only thing that comes close is where it states ‘Robux can not be exchanged as monetary value’. However, all the transactions are being made within Roblox and a site that Roblox endorses.
I wanted to confirm that this idea can be implemented before we follow through- to be on the safe side. Thank you!
Yeah, they probably would play every now or then but I dont think they should have to make content on that game every month or so, because they might want to make other content. I think they should probably still do this, but on their own time instead of every month to 3 months or so, instead of just being required to do it very often to keep their code in the game.
With the star program, creators have requirements. This is to keep roblox exposed to a much wider audience, that being the audience of said creators.
It should be up to the developers of what the requirements are, but important we get confirmation we can move forward with this plan so we don’t get terminated for ‘Breaking ToS’.
(even though i’ve filled out the support applicated numerous times under numerous topics, and all replies seem automated an no help at all.)
I think that rule says that I change money to real money, but if it is in robux and not exaggerated amounts and I often think that there should be no problem.
True, but if they play it too often them and their viewers might both get bored of it, which is why I say that they would still probably make content of it, just not too often, and on their own time.
There are some creators that build their entire channels off of 1 game, like Adopt me or Jailbreak. However, although I appreciate your help, that isn’t the problem here.
The only thing its really supposed to accomplish is having the creator tell their viewers to use the code in the game to get items, meaning more players. Its not like we want the players to just watch the videos, but the creator needs to incourage them to play it by giving them that code.
I agree, but their ToS isn’t awfully clear on this:
Does this mean no USD trading? Because I don’t see any other mention related to that.
I do think this should be ok because we’re paying Roblox creators to create Roblox content and paying them with Roblox’s currency.
But like I said, there’s still the off chance we could get terminated for breaking ToS. We want to be especially careful as we believe we are the first to do this inside of a roblox game, so we have no evidence to tell us whether it’s ok or not
So you’re thinking about implementing your own personal star creators type thing in your game?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be allowed, since you’d basically be paying them as staff in a way (they’re giving you press/advertising by playing the game, and you’d be paying them for it)
Only problem I can see with this is if someone found a way to exploit it (firing a star code remote without purchasing something) and just did that a ton.
