In-Game Emotes Menu

Seems like a fun concept, maybe some animations where you can move around with as well would be nice.

Your example is explaining the situation well, however it is not happening only for the emotes. When you buy gears, you can only use them in several games but people do not dislike the game just because of that.

In my opinion Itā€™d just be a waste of time because R15 is the dominant choice as Lilly_S has said. Second of all theyā€™ve already said that R6 wonā€™t be getting new features anymore.

So, does that mean R6 is deprecated?

R6 isnā€™t discouraged or unsupported, but R15 has become more recommend for newer games and given more attention.

Perhaps Iā€™m a bit late, but couldnā€™t the same be said for gears? You buy an expensive gear just to find out that said developer has either disabled gears or is selling different ones? I understand that at least gears show up on your profile picture, but as seen by the poll you took, it would appear as if most developers are enabling.

Yes, however on games with gear, it shows if itā€™s allowed. For emotes you donā€™t know if itā€™s allowed until you buy the emote and play the game. BTW, most people will enable the feature after Roblox changes some aspects of the emotes. If Roblox were to leave the emotes on with no changes more people would disable the feature.

This is gonna hurt the developers without the notice. It is a good idea and is easier than typing ā€œ/e - emoteā€ I love this idea, and canā€™t wait to use it.

Has this been released yet? Its been a month since the post date. If thereā€™s any date on it I would be happy to know. :stuck_out_tongue:

I donā€™t think so, but I hope they donā€™t. This is one of the worst updates. I mean the whole :PlayEmote() thing is basically just like playing an animation. Its redunant and makes no sense. All this update will do is give developers another default feature they have to remove and be intrusive on a lot games. Its honestly a little annoying that ROBLOX is obviously adding this because of the success of emotes in Fortnite, just one single game.

Isnā€™t there a /e (emote) option already? I just see the menu as an improvement not a added feature.

As a developer, to me, the /e emote option was already an annoying extra feature. But at least it was hidden away in the chat. Now itā€™s being replaced with a completely visible, intrusive, right on the toolbar to open up to the entire game.

The /e emote didnā€™t take up anything on the screen or the view of the gameplay. This is.

I can see your point, but it can always be hidden using the API.

I donā€™t really mind this update at all, I mean itā€™s not hurting anythingā€¦

In fact itā€™s giving us some more room for an expanded library of emotes to show our emotions in-game if youā€™d prefer to do that with animations rather than text coming from your avatar. The menu also looks pretty nice imo. I was wondering a few years back if Roblox would eventually be adding more emotes for us to use since thereā€™s only a few, and I can say now that I really donā€™t mind them doing this, even if some of them might be a bit pricey.

I would just disable it in any game I donā€™t need it in. Iā€™m also interested in seeing what emotes Roblox will add. I just hope it takes a function key.

This should be opt-in rather than opt-out, this will break GUIs in games.

Keep in mind that you can disable emotes if they are ever implemented into your game.

They all should get a new fresh look, by adding the emotes button they should update the old buttons.

He said they should be opt-in rather than opt-out.

A really cool feature would be if you could make your own emotes!
You just launch up studio, and make your emotes, and you could sell them, just like shirts!
