It seems like only 2 or 3 flags will auto-lock a post. This seems like a recent change. 3 threads have been auto-locked in the past few days just because a few people flagged 1 post in there. The original creators of the threads shouldn’t have to remake their post.
Unless, of course, the creator can un-lock the thread on request. Not sure if that’s possible, or if it’s possible I’m not sure the creators know they can do that.
I think actually way more people flagged those posts than you would think. Fairly sure it has to be from 12 unique users over the entire thread before it gets community-locked.
It’s either a recent change, or something has happened in the last few days that’s resulted in an abnormally high amount of community flags… Wonder what that might have been…
I’d like for something to be done about the behavior that caused the lock and then the thread be unlocked. Seems silly to keep the thread locked just to have a new one remade later if the OP still wants to discuss it.
From what I know it takes 3 flags by default to hide a post and 12 flags across all posts for a topic to be auto-locked. If a topic is getting 12 flags, then in 99% of the cases it’s because the topic is taking a wrong turn. I also think that leaders can open topics again that were automatically closed, so in that case you should just shoot a leader a message. From what I’ve seen though all locks have been justifiable so far, so I think the amount should remain the same.
