Increased cpu usage with grid enabled in studio

Yesterday I was noticing oddly high cpu usage from roblox, around 20-30% even on an empty baseplate with all plugins disabled. Today while looking at the problem some more I noticed the usage was highest while looking at the horizon and pretty much normal looking at the baseplate or sky. I tried toggling the grid off and usage went back to normal at around 3-5%.

the clarify this is the grid i’m talking about.

Specs:
Windows 10
AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Processor ~ 3.6GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6870

Here some render stats that seem to correlate with toggling the grid.

Grid enabled:

Grid disabled:

I find the grid handy while building to use for measuring and previously while animating (though the animation editor has it’s own grid now). It’s not that big of a deal to me if this is fixed, that is if anyone else even has this problem. It’s not that configurable and is locked at 0 on the y axis.

In my design places I insert a Texture on the baseplate, punch in the ID of a square outline Decal, and set the scaling to one-by-one studs; sometimes making the baseplate transparent. I don’t know if you want to try this but I think it’s just as good as the built-in grid, if not more lenient (as you can move it on the Y-axis).

Yeah I might end up doing that.
