I want to become a better scripter by actually making a game from start to finish. I have many “projects” that I have started but barely done anything in because I got stuck on one or two things, or didn’t know where to start at all.
I don’t know what kind of game I want to make, but it would be something easy enough to complete and add on to later, due to my lack of building skills (probably some sort of simulator, but I have no ideas).
Basically, I need help coming up with an idea for a game I can make where I can learn a thing or two, but not be completely overwhelmed learning too many things at once, and where game quality would not be affected too much by bad building.
You could try a simulator. This would teach you basic datastoring for stats. How to use remote events (For applying stats), and basic antiexploit scripting (so exploiters couldn’t spam call your stat remotes). This also wouldn’t be affected by bad building since its mostly about gaining stats.
I’ve been thinking a lot about a simulator, but I can’t come up with something original to make. Then again, nothing is original anymore so I don’t know.
There are a a lot of neat templates to start your game with and mess around with. I suggest you to experiment with different features and concepts of the different templates. Once you feel comfortable, try to make a spin-off of one of the templates by adding our your own ideas into it! Not only is it good progress, it’s fun as well!
