Initial Workspace changes automatically selects and alters all Particle Emitters

This bug seems to have been happening for about a month for me and other members of my development group Greenville, Wisconsin.

Whenever I open a Studio window, regardless if it’s local, downloaded or a Team Create, a physical change within the workspace causes all particle emitters to be selected.

  • Studio won’t show the selection until you Undo and Redo whatever change was done, in this case with the video below, inserting a Part.
  • This occurs only once on the first change, it does not repeat until a new place or window is loaded.
  • The particle emitters don’t seem to be altered in any noticeable way.

Sometimes the bug tricks Packages with particle emitters to require an update, despite no known changes. This is a bigger concern as I tend to work in windows with hundreds of packages with these assets within them, it has gone to the point that Studio would crash with all the package changes happening at once.

This occurs every time an item or asset is inserted or removed from workspace. It does not occur when with Properties or Script changes or moving assets. The video was recorded with no plugins installed and all beta features disabled.
A temporary work around is to do a change, undo it and then redo the change without using the Redo button.

(This video shows a Baseplate with 2 blocks consisting of particle emitters, 1 of which is a Package. Inserting the part seems to not show this bug until the action is Undone and Redone)

Here’s the place from the video.
Baseplate.rbxl (43.3 KB)

Expected behavior

Particle Emitters should not be selected or messed with while inserting or deleting Workspace assets.

Thank you, I also meant to put in original post that when this happens, sometimes this warning is put into Output.

Hi there. @Bluezillaa are you still seeing this bug? I tried to reproduce using the file you supplied but could not reproduce.

How did you create the part in your video? The cursor is over the output window when the new part appears, and the part does not get selected.
When I tried to repro, I used the Part button in the ribbon. After doing that, undo/redo did NOT selected the particles.

If you can still repro, can you check that it’s with the file you supplied and tell me exactly how you create the part? And if it does repro, perhaps try disabling various plugins and see whether the problem goes away?

This bug was resolved a couple months ago, I haven’t been able to repro it myself

The cursor going into output was me right-clicking Workspace to Insert Part, Xbox Game Bar didn’t pick that up.

thanks for reaching out lol
