Intellisense in command bar crashes running studio games

How to repro:
[ol]
[li] Open any significantly complex place [/li]
[li] Hit the Run button [/li]
[li] Attempt to navigate around using intellisense (e.g., game.ReplicatedStorage. NOPE, CRASH) [/li]
[/ol]
Works every time.

How significantly complex? Like how many Items are in ReplicatedStorage when this happens?

Edit: I placed 1,000 parts each with a different name in replicated storage, hit run, type game.ReplicateStorage. which brought up suggestions for 100 of the instances and then"900 more children" expanding that list to the full 1,000 still didn’t produce a crash or a drop in performance.

It seems to crash just about any time you use it, even in places with low brick-count.

I will say I have had it crash on my while typing into the command bar, but It doesn’t happen often enough for me to find anything specific to reproduce it. :\

I can confirm this as well, I even made a comment about it in the Programmers’ Syndicate skype group when it happened.

At the time I assumed a random crash, but I WAS typing in Command Bar referencing ReplicatedStorage so I gave it a few more tried. It crashed 2 of the 3 times I just did it. I just opened a clean place, inserted a model into ReplicatedStorage and went to typing while it was in a test server. (I didn’t use play solo, I’d assume it still works then.)

This exact same thing happened to me. I was trying to type game.ReplicatedStorage when the game was running, and it crashed every time. I ended up just typing my command in a text document and pasting it into the command bar.

Hah! This has been around for so long. This is how I make sure nothing crashes ( want to load character)

I type:

ga me . Players .Player1:LoadCharacter()

And then I remove all spaces: it doesn’t pop up Intellisense. I don’t really need IntelliSense (it’s handy, yes) but I’d rather see an option to remove the feature until it is fixed.

I nominate the “IntelliSense Enabled”-option as “Most wanted option for Roblox Studio 2014”

I feel like I’m the chosen one. My studio is the most stable thing ever and has never crashed due to intellisense. The only time my studio does crash is when either im importing a huge model from obj data or using the csg editor and unioning a large model. Other than that it never crashes unless I do something stupid like an infinite loop.

Are you sure you got Intellisense?

Yup. Works like a dream.

This bug happens to me frequently.
Its gotten so bad that I’ve had to set my autosave interval to 1 minute to make sure I don’t lose anything.

I updated mine too. I was doing a LOT of re-creation from not only ReplicatedStorage, but Workspace, and CFraming with the command bar and sometimes Intellisense crashes for me on any of these things. It is more consistent with ReplicatedStorage than anything it seems.

This happens too much. Even editing scripts normally causes spontaneous crashes because of the intelli-sense.

It should be a studio option. I did fine before it was introduced, and it would be nice to be able to disable it. There are only a few circumstances in which I find it of any use at all.

I’m sure there are a few others who feel the same way.

Same thing as magnalite. Works like a dream, but I do with more commonly used events/methods would be at the top of the list.

To help the devs I think we should post how well intellisense works and our pc specs.
Here we go!

Intellisense: Works fine, never crashes
Os: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Processor: i5 2500K (slightly overclocked)
Ram: 8GB

It also works fine on my laptop!

Intellisense: Works fine, never crashes
Os: Windows 8.1 64 bit
Processor: i3 400M
Ram: 4GB

It would help if those of you WITH issues could post your computer specs. I’ve not been able to repro this otherwise.

Just come over to the to the games team and ask to see it, we can repro it pretty much 100% of the time at least on Mac, and about 30% on windows.
