Not trying to influence your decisions but you should get a replacement ODD tbh, you never know when you might need it!
Luckily, I have a USB DVD player and 2 DVD RW slots in an Athlon 64 X2 based desktop

Not yet, but I have been playing the update. I was one of the fools that bought Happy Home Designer for 3DS and realized it was not my cup of tea so I’m holding back on that $25 haha.
