Role changing is amazing and I’m so happy we have that now!
Currently, the ban endpoints aren’t available through OpenCloud.
we need groups back, personally this update has gotta be the worst update
Thanks for the answer, are these and webhook notification events for the new features planned?
im not sure if this would word, but maybe checking the users role in a community will return banned if they are banned from the group? if so that should make it really easy to do they by just inserting a script into the game, which also helps for picking which games banned community members cant join under the group
What does subscribing to a post do? Does it just keep you updated on any new replies for that post?
Are there any plans for this? Also are there open cloud endpoints for SETTING group properties, like members’ roles and the group shout?
I might be dumb for asking, but are there any plans of adding a studio API that can update user roles? (Tell me if one exists please!)
From what I know, you need an external website for this, which is pretty annoying when doing things based on in-game triggers.
OpenCloud endpoints for bans are planned, but there’s currently no ETA. We want to ensure there aren’t major issues before we create the endpoints.
There is a way to invoke open cloud endpoints through an engine API, but I don’t know if it includes this or not. OpenCloudService:InvokeAsync() has the capability of invoking endpoints but lacks any meaningful documentation. As far as I can tell the only way to find out how to use whatever endpoints it supports is by word of mouth right now. I’m not sure why it’s like that. Maybe it isn’t considered fully ready yet? However it is enabled and I believe it has been enabled for a good while.
Does the new Roles system only let you do changes on the creator hub? Because I granted myself an everything role but I can’t seem to change the icon unless I’m on creator hub.
@Sassiekathy seems you guys missed a page… “groups” still exist, should be communities
https://create.roblox.com/dashboard/group/create
+when you press this dropdown, it says “Create Group”
This is intentional.
As per the announcement, Groups will still exist within Creator Hub:
In addition, while Communities will be focused on engaging with your users, we have been building out a robust system for you to collaborate with fellow creators on what you’re building. This product continues to be called Groups, and will exist exclusively within Creator Hub. Work has been ongoing, including a new roles and permissions system, as well as revenue management features. Stay tuned for more updates!
Yes, Creator Hub Groups and Communities are largely separate, so most of what you do only affects the site you do it on.
I’m not familiar with this service specifically, but in general, if there isn’t documentation for it then it’s not considered released, and might change without notice, or removed completely, etc. We don’t recommend using it in production experiences even if technically you are able to use it. The exception to this is if you are told to use it specifically by Roblox Staff, for example as part of BETA testing.
Can the name “groups” come back? It doesnt feel like roblox anymore with the groups being changed to “communities”…
They’re more focused on making useless changes than bettering group functionality, a shame
I just still call it groups and so do most people I know who use them actively.
Update - the limitation that members needed to be in the community prior to being banned has been lifted.
is there is a possibility for community forums to connected with a Guilded forum channel ?
