This is a great update that will make groups (or communities) a lot better than they initially were. The ability to ban people is a step up, and the new Forums will be absolutely game-changing!
I do have a question regarding groups (more specifically, the group wall).
How long will Group Wall posts stay around before they get removed? Will they stay around until Q1 2025 or will they be removed by the end of this year?
Seriously, where do you get those testers? I would’ve loved to get early access but I don’t know where you asked for people to apply. Would be happy to find out
Nothing but good feelings from the platform recognising the importance of groups in today’s Roblox, be it for development or assembling large communities, and we’re finally getting the group rework we truly deserved. This is the start of so much more and I am thrilled to follow its progress.
Massive appreciation to the teams hard at work to bring this vision to life. Especially happy about the ability to ban people and have a natively supported way to change ranks via Open Cloud. No more reliance on unstable libraries or cookies to get some rank automation done.
Was this actually released or is this just announcing an upcoming feature? I can’t find a ban option anywhere on the Roblox website or the Creator Hub.
It should be released. For me atleast it is, if you go to configure your group, then members and then click the 3 dots on one of the members then Kick User and Ban User should appear.
Will the Ban User function be accessible from the API at some point? This would help with timed suspensions for some groups (communities) in some ways.
We’re not removing walls before the end of this year. We are planning to disable creation of new wall posts when forums are enabled, but you’ll still be able to view your wall in a read-only state. While we anticipate removing the wall at a later date, we’re still gathering feedback from the community on this. If or when we decide to remove the wall, we’ll make sure to provide ample notice for creators to make the necessary adjustments.
But let us know what you need. We want to get this transition right.
