Introducing Roblox Communities

What will happen to in some cases like 15 years of groupwall post? That’s so much information lost. Hundreds of conversations, hundreds of events, updates, arguments.

It will likely be gone for good. If you want to preserve information like that, the only way for you to do that is by the Internet Archive.

I was initially thinking that the wall posts would be converted to forums but there’s likely no efficient way for Roblox to do something like that.

Glad to see we can now ban users, not much else to say.

This is awesome too but like not much to say. Good for roleplays!

The amount of requests for a ranking API is longer than the Bible. Thank you SO much for this as well as the other changes you guys have made.

Is there any way requests to this could be made from games?

Are there plans to introduce in-experience entry points to Communities? It would be nice to be able to prompt a user to join a Community from the Roblox client

Really looking forward to the Forums feature in particular! The capabilities of group walls frankly did not allow much meaningful discussion when it came to actual group-related topics, and now people can have more focused conversations without having to rely solely on some third-party application.

Regarding sales within communities, it seems like the “Sales” portion of the Revenue section isn’t populating at all and isn’t showing recent sales, is this because of the transition from groups → community APIs?

Where’s the forum from the group/community? I don’t see it on my group/community.

I had the same thought when the new ban API was released, but if I ban an account, I would like the alternative account to be detected and banned together at that point. That way, the administrator can see how many alternate accounts have been banned at the same time.
Especially in games where alternative accounts are only detected when they try to join, which may delay the administrator’s detection.

Is this a future plan or is this expected to work currently?

Also can we like, raise the cap, and make it easier to leave multiple at the same time

I really shouldn’t need extensions for this stuff, I have to use extensions to unadd a lot of friends at the same time

If I’m not wrong, I don’t see any option to ban someone who left my group. Will there be a way to do so?

It should work with API keys, if not, send us a bug report. Sorry about that, the initial wording of that line (middle bullet point) in announcement was confusing. I’ve updated it.

Apologies for the miscommunication, we intended to say that you can call into your own tooling and then have that tooling call this API. I understand the original wording was confusing, it’s been modified.

For what it’s worth, we are actually currently looking into making it possible to call some of our web APIs like this from in-experience!

Maybe y’all can make it so if you ban someone from a group, it bans them from the games related to the group as well. Ahem, I am mean communities

Maybe it would be best to get rid of the boot and instead replace it with an open door or something. My first thought when I saw that icon was: “That’s a little violent.”

Oh come on :sob: engineers can’t have any fun anymore

Cool addition. The new ‘Communities’ name is kind of cringe though

Especially the dude named Anton :sob:
what did anton do

Well, you are kicking them from the group, are you not?
