That still doesn’t explain how you got the 5% in the first place, can you show the work you did to get the 5%?
I gotta agree, it just seems kinda naïve to think that having a big budget is gonna result in a good/successful game (no offence to the employees at roblox who came up with this game fund idea).
As the platform has committed to giving 25% to the developers out of the total income from the platform.
Edit - I do not know the equations of premium payouts.
I completely disagree for the variety of reasons I gave. 500k is not too much, it’s just enough. Visuals and amount of content are not the ways to become next-generation, thus why those games are not all too popular.
You’re completely missing the point about curation. Roblox does a terrible job of recommending games to people as well as featuring/boosting up the ones that are deserving.
This just seems like throwing money at something in hopes of a solution coming to light.
No offence but I do not think you should be peddling information about something so important without having knowing where it came from.
The partnership with Roblox could resolve that issue, I highly doubt that they will throw this money away like you think they’re doing.
Edit - I also think that it is partially the developers fault for not having a lot of players, whether you agree or disagree.
That still doesn’t make it right to pass off this 25% as fact when it clearly isn’t.
Look at the amount that Roblox earns compared to how much is given, it’s roughly 25% and it has been for an extended period of time. I am not making BS up, it can be seen there. I will try to find the said resource I mentioned, however, due to switching accounts on social media, I do not have the DM history to find it with ease.
Edit - Developer Economics | Roblox Creator Documentation here you go, updated to go with Premium payouts as well.
27.3% and even this is based off all the revenue roblox generated so it’ll include premium purchases, robux purchases and gift cards (and some other revenue from events and such).
I’m not agreeing, I mentioned other sources of payment roblox got that shouldn’t be used since developers do not effect it (events, robux purchases).
As a developer after you dev ex the robux you get just shy of 25% of what the person who initially bought those robux for money spent on the robux. When the person buys something from you Roblox takes 30% up front but the rest of the money they take is hidden in the dev ex exchange rate. So ultimately you end up getting just shy of 25c on every dollar spent
You guys are thinking inside the box. If games on other platforms can easily cost 100s of millions why can’t a Roblox game cost 500k. Roblox games can cost way more than that
I just want someone to show you guys.
To be fair, Roblox is working on upgrading their engine. There’s a lot of new stuff on the way soon. You can already see the kinds of things they’ve been implementing just this year alone.
That you need 500k to launch a roblox game? I think not.
I personally believe there are a lot of ideas and concepts I can introduce with way more than 500k that have never been seen on roblox. You are thinking about games through the lens of what you are used to to seeing on Roblox. To see how far a Roblox game can go you don’t have to look much further than games that succeed outside of Roblox. In comparison to more traditional games Roblox games are generally lacking in all the fundamental areas of game design. I struggle to find games on the platform that feel finished and feel like they could even stand alone if their idea was put together outside of Roblox. I don’t want to knock any developers but it all feels very boring.
I haven’t worked it out myself but that’s the number I heard Andrew bereza use and it sounded quite reliable.
Why would I have to sign a NDA for you to tell me about how to spend 500k on a roblox game?
Because I would have to disclose information I don’t want to be publicly known. Also it was a joke lol I prefer not to tell you
