Introduction thread for new forum members

Hello! I’m Wildcutepenguin and thank you for the promotion to ‘member’! I hope I get to help you guys with what you don’t understand and that you can help me!

When I was younger, my friend introduced me to Roblox and I kept forgetting my password. I got started with development on the Roblox platform by watching tutorials on YouTube (Mostly @Alvin_Blox) and now I have a game with over 100K visits. I want to achieve getting better knowledge of how to script using Lua. As you could guess from the last sentence, I’m a scripter! That’s it, I’m currently working on a few games and I know I should only pick one but I get so many ideas! :star_struck:

Thank you Roblox and keep doing what you’re doing!

Hello! I am new here. I finally did it. Here’s some introduction.

I am Asy. I love building. I’ve been staying in this ROBLOX community for almost 5 years. I started exploring Roblox Studios in 2019 and I thought myself innit. I can build, design, and also modeling. Well, that’s all from me now.

Long time reader, recently logged-in reader. Long time coder, long time artist (Don’t ask how long)… and as of 3 months ago trying to apply all that knowledge to Lua and Blender. Daunting!

How did I find Roblox: To be honest… I have no idea :stuck_out_tongue:

How did I get started with development on the Roblox platform: For awhile, I had been doing Scratch (Another “coding” language), but I felt that I had done everything I wanted to. I wanted to move onto something more advanced, something that I could make 3D game with. So, me, loving Roblox, and loving scripting, I decided to start learning Lua on Roblox. And I absolutly LOVE it

Current goals/achievements on the platform: Assuming this means, what I WANT to accomplish, rather than WHAT I’ve accomplished. I hope to someday make games good enough that other people will like, make videos about, and come back to play. Seeing someone play something that you made, is pretty awesome. Now, if it means WHAT I’ve accomplished… I’ve made two games, a unique obby, and a game called Lava Run.

What is my current role in the dev community: 95% Scripter, 3% Builder, 2% UI Designer.

Anyway, that’s about it (It’s kinda a long post, I felt I had a lot to say.)

I would love to do a TeamCreate with someone else. I may not be a super scripter, but I’m eager to learn and very much enjoy creating, so I think that should help.

Anyway… that’s all

Hi I am new to this forum and to Roblox. I have worked in Software Engineering for over 30 years, although as a QA rather than a coder.
I was introduced to Roblox by a family member who now wants me to create games.
I enjoy looking at the posts and gaining knowledge - there are some really smart people here and hopefully I will eventually work out how to get a player to sit on the bee I created and fly around on it (and it works on PC and ipad)!

Many thanks, J

  1. How did you find Roblox?

I founded the Roblox platform back in 2014-2016 when I was on YouTube watching YouTube & Police vehicles since I loved to make my own MOC Lego vehicles, during this time Roblox was a very engaging and popular game and I really enjoyed it from the bottom of my heart. One of my favorite games to play on my iPad was a game created by Roblox. The game featured team battles, free for all, and a variety of different tools/adjectives you could do, further into the years the Roblox community has grown tremendously varied in population. Today where the Roblox platform & community is. I am indeed proud to be apart of the Roblox community and it’s journey through many more years and generation of new Robloxians!

  1. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?

As a little kid, we all loved to play legos. I use to make police cars, tow trucks anything I could possibly think of using left over lego parts and using my imagination & determination. I started Roblox development back in 2016. Some of the things that inspired me to become a developer was my passion into being a Police Officer in real life, one of my life goals and dream jobs I have for the near future. When I played Roblox, one of the games I first played when I got my very own desktop in 2016 was prison life. Prison life really was a game changer towards me, experiencing the opportunity to become a prison guard, and multiple tactics on managing prisoners or even escaping from the prison itself avoiding all of the guards! This inspired me to create my very first Roblox City game with variety of emergency agency teams such as, Police, Fire, Civllian, etc; At first when I touched Roblox studio, everything was new to me and YouTube tutorials were still a thing, so I used the YouTube platform to expand my imagination and understand where parts were and how to use them, by the time I figured out how of insert a block, I built my first table! I realized that this would be a whole new opportunity and was very similar to legos, I wanted to create games out of my own imagination and for other users on the Roblox platform to enjoy.

  1. Current goals/achievements on the platform
Some goals I have on this platform is to one day being able to gain enough Roblox to DevEx, I believe throughout the years I had enough robux too, just I never really considered doing it but I might have to rethink that! Another goal I would love is one day to have a Roblox game that I’ve made or taken part in development on the Roblox front page!

Achievements;

• Being a member on DevForum
• Had a first game I’ve taken apart in development that landed on Roblox Sponsor of the week
• Being able to make real life earnings from development or commission work.

  1. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)

In the developer community I’d have to say I would fit into the Map Designer role. The reason why I say this is because I specialize in map development, making city games, models, and including vehicles but overall I multitask on a variety of different fields within development.

  1. Anything else you would like to include

I’d just like to thank my team, with three people including myself who have helped me come this far, and I’d like to give a huge thank to Roblox for allowing my imaginations to come to life and being able to share it with all of the Robloxians on the Roblox platform!!

Hello there, and thank you for accepting me into the DevForum!
I found Roblox by looking for games in the App Store, I fell in love with it, and I now play it almost every day.
I started developing on Roblox by making quite bad, free model filled games, I learnt how to script, and now I am a novice at scripting. I made a game with my friend called Ripple Soda, which is currently in Alpha.
I want to become an intermediate scripter that can make good games, and have people play them. I also want to learn how to do GFX and Animations.
I would want to say that Roblox has changed my life, I have played so many good games, and met so many wonderful people. Thank you for reading!

  1. How did you find Roblox?

I found Roblox in the middle of 2014 while I was browsing the internet, I came across a video where someone was showcasing a few new games on the platform. After that I decided to play it on my computer and the rest is history.

  1. How did you get started with development on the Roblox platform?

I have been doing art my whole life so when I learned that I could incorporate that into my favorite platform I was ecstatic.

  1. Current goals/achievements on the platform

A goal I currently have is to make at least one friend using this platform.
Something I have accomplished was becoming a member of this Roblox forum.

  1. What is your role in the developer community? (eg. GFX, UI Designer, Programmer, Builder etc)

I specialize in the GFX side of the community, but I wish to try other things when time permits me to.

  1. Anything else you would like to include

To anyone who is lost or confused about anything regarding this community I would say don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most people would gladly explain any questions you have.

Yo, my name is Zelo I just now became a member of the Roblox Developer Forum.
I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit before I go back to coding a small project I’m working on.
I’ve been playing Roblox ever since I was 11 in 2012. I was introduced by a school friend about Roblox we used to play a lot of games made by a lot of great developers. As a kid growing up I had a love for video games a lot and especially Sci-Fi-related games. I wanted to create games on Roblox when I was younger and never could figure out how to so I procrastinated a lot. Once I got older I wanted to push myself further into coding. So I learned more about the principles of coding and what I could potentially do. So I decided to establish a few goals that I would love to achieve. And one of my goals is to create a game inspired by my imagination. So that was just a little bit about myself and thanks for accepting me into your community Roblox.

Hello, I’m epicbuilder918. Hoping to change my name soon, maybe epicscripter918 eventually…

  1. I found roblox on the school computer labs back in 2011. All started on a game called Ship Shooting Battle, made roblox stand out from other flash games. I played on guest accounts until I made my first account in ~November 2011, then this account in ~January 2012 because of the overly restrictive safe-chat back in the day.

  2. I started developing as soon as I found out Roblox Studio existed, making cringe games using exclusively free models. Most of the games, thankfully, have been reduced to a blank baseplate/flat terrain by an older, matured, and much more experienced version of the person who made them (me).

  3. I hope to develop a game with my friends and have a small community maybe. It’s a bit of a stretch but I think we’ll get it done eventually. Game development isn’t my job, nor my dream job (it just doesn’t pay well enough right now) but it is a hobby and really fun to me at times.

  4. Currently I am a builder, hoping to learn Lua in between work and education. I already know a few coding languages but I am a master of none, and Lua seems challenging, but to that I say bring it on!

  5. I hope to look back on this and see where I started and how far I’ve come. See you soon, future self.

Hi I’m new here, happy to be a member of this forum!
Question Answers:

  1. A friend introduced me to Roblox around 4 years ago.
  2. I had become an avid player off and on the platform, and I’ve always wanted to be a Developer of some sort, thought that there would be no better place to start than here.
  3. My current goal is mastering the fundamentals of Lua (enough to create a starter game) then practice and improve from there.
  4. Atm I am learning to be a scripter, but I know my way around the Studio tools and while I can’t build anything amazing, I know enough about building to create basic frameworks.

Thanks for giving me the privilege of member on this forum, and I look forward to contributing to this community. Stay safe, have fun .

  1. I started playing Roblox a few months ago on New Year’s Eve of 2020 because a lot of my cousins were playing it and I wanted to see what it was!

  2. I used to play a game called Blocksworld which although not as advanced as Roblox, let you create your own games, so when I saw you could also do that on Roblox I thought it sounded like fun!

  3. I have made a group with two of my friends on Roblox and we hope to have a game called Ostrich out on Roblox soon! (Just in case you were wondering, my group is called Iron on Iron Studios.)

  4. I am mostly a Programmer but will also need to do some building and modeling for my games. (Thankfully one of my friends is good at Ui design so I won’t also need to do that!)

  5. Also, my favorite game on Roblox is Jailbreak!

Hi, I’m BillyBobRAE. I found roblox through a video called “Train Safety with Blokav the Robloxian”. I was and still am into trains. I burnt through a lot of accounts as I forgot their passwords. The oldest I remember was named “KillaRobloxian”, which I created in 2010. Others include “Amtrak9016”, “NSmember” (I played a lot of Elder Terminal back in the day), and “MaglevtoMonorail”

I started developing with build mode. Remember that? I got into studio when I started wanting more control. I began by making a bunch of free-modelled games, most of which boiled down to “A train in a city” or “A train killed a guy”. Half the time, I used the wrong type of train or track, and it didn’t work. It was kinda messed up, but I’m past that.

My current goals are just to make a breakthrough and have a game that is popular. My achievements include a chemical plant game, fighting game, a game about a ferry, and a game where you run in front of a landing plane to earn points.

I am a jack of all trades, but master of none. My building is okay, scripting does the job, but could be organized better. My UI design isn’t great, but it works.

A fun story: Before I first played, I saw a video titled “100 ways to die in roblox”, one of which was touching a spawn. I was super terrified of spawns and as soon as I joined a game, I thought “Am I being spawnkilled?”. Then I touched the spawn and, surprise, didn’t die!

Hey everyone! I am santokioS.

I found roblox trough a friend already a long time ago, but only “recently” I got into developing with roblox studio.
I have made some small projects already, and now I’m working on a big obby called Obby Around The World together with a small team.
My strongest skill is programming, but I’m also a builder, a UI designer and a GFX artist (basically everything  )
And that’s it! I took me a while to get on the developer forum, but now I’m finaly here yay!
