"Investigative" based game - What are your thoughts?

Hello everyone. I would like some feedback on an idea that I have had in mind for a while. I’ll be explaining it in various sections below.

What is it?

The game idea that I had in mind would be kind of like Ace Attorney in a way if you have ever heard of it. The game would focus on the player’s logical and observative skills in a single-player story-driven narrative. The player has a variety of goals, this is either to defend a client and/or to find out who the real culprit is. Though this isn’t the entirety of the game.

You see, the player will have to explore various ‘scenes’ and find pieces of evidence, some of which are junk and will not help the player in any case, and others will be valuable.

What is holding me back?

One of the few things I am worried about is that people will believe that it is one of those ‘copy’ games that you see all over the place. While a lot of my ideas are based on concepts, I try to mix them up. I do fear that I will end up creating a copy.

Please, tell me your thoughts. I’ve always enjoyed testing a player’s logical and conservative skills. I am simply unsure that in the end, if it is an idea worth going for.

Currently games like “Ace Attorney” are starting to get lots of copies and by the time this game comes out, I really won’t have high hopes for it

While I can wish you luck with the development of your game, I suggest figuring out new concepts and not to release it to early while the Ace Attorney clones are still available and popular.

This was my fear overall. I think I’ll steer clear of it for now!
