Is a custom video player or a GIF of a real life bedroom against TOS?

Hey all, so I have been busy making a video player than can run in roblox games without any use of third party tools or HTTP services.

All though I am concerned if my video player is against TOS in any way. Here is a video of my video player running a 30 second video showing nothing but my bedroom (no faces/persons, or text or anything similar are featured in the video)

Some clarification and overall feedback would be greatly appreciated as always. Thank you!

I am pretty sure this would be against the terms of service, if you used this in a real game. Doing the project is fin.

My internet speed isn’t the fastest at the moment, so I am unable to verify. But i am pretty sure.

It is? Could you clarify? Where would it mention such things in the TOS? I can’t seem to find anything related to not having a custom videos or anything similar in the ToS/ToU

Shouldn’t be TOS, there are some games which also showcase a video player in their game and its perfectly fine. Here is a game that has a similar thing: badapple 160x90p@30fps - Roblox
Like you said, dont show anything against TOS

Pretty sure this violates TOS. There were several games that all had a similar premise to what you have now, and I believe all it most of them were taken down for “adult content.”

Here’s an instance of what I’m referring to: (Credit to Konekokitten.)

Ah yes. I remember these livestream games. Yeah livestreaming games is a different story as far as moderating them goes. You see, you easily violate TOS very easily without mods knowing, because unless there is a roblox moderator in your game while your are streaming, there’s no chance they’ll see it, so I think that’s what gets them automatically taken down.

But my creation here is a video player, which can get reviewed at any time, which means it doesn’t violate any of the terms of service that I can see. And I have also seen many other video players on the platform that are yet to be taken down. So unless the it is the video/GIF that violates ToS itself, I think it’s alright to have in a public game. Please do correct me if I am wrong though

Yes, I am aware of the differences, but sadly we cannot have nice things in regards to Roblox’s moderation.

I believe they view things like this as “Well for now it’s appropriate, but they could their account could get compromised and / or they could just change their motives and display something against TOS.”

There seriously needs to be a system where developers can contact the moderation team in situations like this.

(If there isn’t one already…)

Dev engagement does exist. But, it would probably take 5 months for them to respond.

This might fall under the 28. rule: > Sharing Personal Information

Physical address (the closest rule for recording of a real life bedroom)

(It doesen’t specify vidoes of your location, though.)

You should still be careful about it. But i think you might be fine.

If it takes that long, we can’t really call it “dev engagement” now can we?

But I don’t believe it would be “the sharing of personal information” as the OP hasn’t stated that it’s their own property in the recording, besides even if it was, it’s still not really sharing anything personal (I.e address, phone number, name, etc).
