Is an outside mesh utilizing backface culling supposed to block or allow the modern PBR effect? Getting different results; really confused

As title asks. Is it supposed to allow the new(ish) PBR effect, or block it? I’m getting different behavior depending on how the accessories are equipped, and I can’t tell if that different behavior is because of how I’m equipping the items (does the PBR effect not generate if the accessory is assigned via a script instead of actually equipped on-platform?) or if the difference in behavior is because the interaction between PBR and backface culling is actually funky/unpredictable.

In the instance on the left, I’m wearing the gold clockwork headphones on-platform, as in actually wearing the version I own from my inventory. The outline/3D effect add-on is then applied afterward via a script so I can try it before paying to upload. In this instance, the PBR does show under the backface culling mesh.
In the instance on the right, both the headphones and the 3D/outline effect are applied at the same time with the same script. In this instance, the PBR does not show under the backface mesh.

I’m just really confused as to what’s going on, to be honest. I want to make sure I actually know what the standard behavior will be in-game before I finish up this add-on and put it out on the catalog, because if it does block PBR, it might be a bit of a waste.

I would appreciate any/all input! Thank you so much!

Hello all! Wanted to follow-up on this before I forgot. I decided to just bite the bullet and upload it, since it would’ve been a waste to do all of that and not use it. Wearing it on the avatar and in a game that supports realistic lighting, it at least seems that the PBR effect does fully render, and that it applies regardless of whether backface culling is present. My guess is that if PBR-enabled items are equipped to a player via a script, they don’t fully load all of their properties including whatever properties make them look shiny. When worn from a player’s inventory, it all works properly.

I think.
