Is buying a build that was pre-built against the ROBLOX ToS?

I bought a build, and I want to make sure it’s not against the ROBLOX ToS and, I have proof I bought it with like them saying it’s mine, yeah.

The topic is pretty self-explanatory according to the topic…

It is not against TOS. It is just like hiring a builder.

What if they put a patent on the build after I bought it…
Supposedly they “take” me to court, what would I do?

Always thinking of the worst situations… lol.

If you have proof of purchase that is nothing to worry about. Once you buy the product, it becomes yours.

As @Rebooted_Dev said, if you paid the developer for the build then it is yours to keep and do as you please with it. In this case your contact with the developer is the agreement you came to in DMs. As long as your contract states that the map is yours and that the developer didn’t say anything like “you cannot modify or resell” etc the map is yours and there is nothing the developer can do about it.

Legally speaking, if you have proof of transaction, than you own the right to use those builds in your game (assuming those were the direct terms of the transaction).

Intellectual Property is a tricky thing, however if you hire a builder to create something for you directly, or for your corporation, etc, you would own the rights to that IP.

While slightly different, it is essentially the same thing, however in this scenario you are purchasing rights to use that intellectual property.

For a concise answer, you wouldn’t even have to worry about it being taken to court as most judges would throw the case out due to the IP being properly purchased.

That’s great, it’s been worrying the crap out of me since i’m apart of the younger developer audience and don’t really know legal terms etc.
And it’s like what if my developer put a patent and brought me to court, I would freak out since I don’t really know anything.
Good news is my developer said I can resell, modify, and it’s mine and he won’t resell.

So it’s great to know I don’t need to worry about this as it’s really scary to think that I could basically go to court for buying a build.
