I have a TV and computer in my current project I want to give more functionality to. Both currently… don’t really do much at all. I had the idea, however, of adding actual videos, and perhaps even a way for users to play their own videos.
Main issue here is, there’s no real way to make sure that everything played is appropriate, and since it’s not through Roblox’s systems, I can’t just blame it on a poor job filtering like with bypassed audios on a radio lol
I was in a showcase once that had an Omegle function, somehow, which is what gave me this idea to begin with… but does anyone have any idea how they even did it? Or if it’s even… actually allowed to do so in the first place? And if not, any ideas on what to do instead? The TV currently just pastes a decal and plays some music which is rather boring lol

I do not recommend this. Unsanitized input (specifically if its being broadcasted to other clients) is insanely risky and could put you at a state where you are liable to have your account and game affected in a negative connotation.

Those TVs are actually going to be possible in an upcoming update with new frame types, however the way they did it was pretty much against TOS I believe.
Theres no way to truly filter out the inap. content, unless done manually. Thats why those kinds of games were taken down, because it could’ve been used to show bad images.

Hm… that’s what I thought lol. Anyone have any ideas as to what else to do? A backup idea I had was to somehow make videos/channels or whatever that I create and upload myself, ensuring that they’re appropriate, and then somehow let players pick a video to play. I have no idea how to even begin doing this either lmao

There is no real use case for this besides a showcase. I’d suggest just sticking with what we’ve got until future roblox updates!
