Even if someone were to tell you that it’s okay, it’s far safer to make your own. It’s only 16x16, and it will take almost no time at all.
A copyrighted asset is a copyrighted asset. No matter what color you change it too, it will stay copyrighted unless you deform it or create a texture that is not a trace to the copyrighted one in any shape or form.
Yes, there is a component of intent in copyright law, and you would be breaking it here. The further you stay away from plagiarizing a texture, the lower your risk of problems, the severity of them is reduced.
Anyways, seek originality. Following something means living in its shadow. Take inspiration, or even parody like with Piggy, but do not copy.
