Is it better to sponsor a game or run ads?

I’m making a story game and was wondering what would get the most people to play it.

The issue is I don’t know whether to advertise it or sponsor the game, as this is the first game I’m releasing. (excluding a rushed tycoon few years back)

I’ve set aside a budget of 5000 robux for sponsors/ads (If I chose ad I will need to use some of that 5000 to commission one)

Any help would be appreciated!

Depends on whether the ad is good or not

then what constitutes a “good ad”?

Doesn’t matter how good the ad is. Don’t sponsor your game. I’ve heard from hundreds of people it’s a huge waste of money. I even tried it myself. I got 4,000 impressions for a sponsor and got a grand total of zero clicks.

Don’t sponsor.

Could you send a SS of the sponsor you ran? I want to see if there’s a pattern to getting a good sponsor, as many devs I know have used them before

User advertisements are pretty good, sponsors are really bad, like really.

I did put 17 robux into a sponsor just to see CTR and it got 3000 impressions with 0 clicks. Might have to make a new topic in the future for what makes a good ad lol

You can likely find a thread similar to that by searching it. Follow marketing 101 and you should be fine.

Roblox is changes a lot, so I wanted up to date information on which of the 2 is better

When you sponser the game, you are limited to a much smaller image, and it forces you to use your game’s Thumbnail. However, if you advertise it, you get not only to choose which image size you want, the images are also far bigger, and you can make it whatever you want, without the need of changing your game’s page.

I once decided to test out sponsors and spent 15k, the results are pretty bad in my opinion. If you compare it to a decent ad I ran you can see that running ads is way better. Both pics below give their end results.
