Is it not allowed to sell perks through the use of dollars?

I’m totally confused with the Roblox Terms of Use, and didn’t know if this was allowed or not, so I want to know if it’s not allowed or not.

I know this is a question but I don’t know where to put this but any categories of Development Support.

A lot of game developers are selling perks in their game aswell so I thought it’s allowed and one of them is a front page game, while people here sells asset or buy asset through the use of USD.

Perks, like in-game bonuses?
Are you referring to dev products by any chance?

It’s a perks only unique to players who bought it.

No any perks that are bought outside or with currency other than Robux will lead to termination or a temporary ban.

Does that answer you question sir?

I’m not really sure about that answer, might aswell wait for Roblox Staff to answer or for the highest opinion matters.

You’re allowed to sell perks in game using Dev Products or Gamepasses. As long as you stick to those two, you’re good.

Also, something similar to this is the gambling rules, where you can’t have any gambling in game.

Oh then, it really is against the terms

Quoting section I, part 12 of the Roblox Community Rules:

  • As discussed in Roblox Terms of Use, you cannot (and you cannot allow others) sell, trade or give away Robux, digital goods or game codes except through official channels on Roblox platform. For example, you cannot conduct such transactions through chat, Roblox Groups, or third-party apps or websites. You also cannot buy or sell Roblox games or Groups.

Perks would count as digital goods, paying in USD isnt an official channel (would require offsite activity), thus forbidding this activity. However, you could provide perks as a dev product or gamepass.

Oh then, that explains how it’s against the terms only when you get caught, that’s why some front page games are able of doing it?

Well, some developers are just confused with this including me which lead some of them getting terminated because they don’t know that it’s what they meant as digital goods, luckily I haven’t done it yet.

but remember that some popular games do have deals with roblox with some of those items , for example the roblox toys where u get a special code to get a item in game

Yea but that’s coming from their market he was asking can he like sell perks or passes using the US currency

Not a fun idea to be spreading rumours like this without basis. No top developer actively has an RWT system where you can invest real currency for in-game perks, that’s against the Terms of Service. That can’t be proven either; if it can, forward it via Report Abuse or the Support window.

Promotions based on real life items are a completely different story. For example, Roblox toys. Roblox toys go through Roblox’s market, not the developer’s. Developers simply allow toy codes to be redeemed for special items in their game. There’s no purchase between the developer and the user involved.

Additionally, take note of the Developer Stars Programme. E.g. physical merchandise for a game that gives in-game content.

These programmes are monitored and managed by Roblox, thus get a pass on the guideline as it is technically going through official channels.

Please mark the post that actually answered your question. A post about “Is your question answered” is not really an appropriate solution when there are better ones (such as harule’s below which immediately answered the question about whether it was allowed or not with reference to the ToS).

Marking posts as a solution isn’t just done for the “benefit” (if any) of that person, but also there to inform others with similar problems about where to refer to for a possible answer to their own question without having to post another thread (assuming they’re a part of the forums, other people outside of the forums also maintain the ability to read this category).

Umm sir he marked the person who answered his question not the post that answered the question everyone has differences of marking their solution so respect that difference

Lets not go off on a tangent, take this to DMs if you want to continue afterwards, though I hope it doesn’t come to that.

I respect the difference between definitions of solutions, but the solution feature isn’t really there for marking the person whom you thought helped you, but rather what helped you and serves as a symbol that a person’s problem has both been resolved and a way to show others with similar issues where to look for help, there’s a reason the solution is at the end of the first post and shown on the threads name when scrolling through the category.

If you wondered if you were allowed to sell things within your game for dollars rather than robux and came across this thread, could you honestly say that this,

Is your question answered sir? If so mark whoever solved your solution.

, would in any way, shape or form help you get to your answer?

I’m not attempting to create any friction here, I just somewhat aggravated due to it’s usage here and would advise that the OP mark another post (whether the same writer of the post or not doesn’t matter), with the actual content related to the question, as the solution. Whether they take that advice or not is solely their choice and I won’t inquire, nor pester, them to change it once it’s been said and done. My previous post serves as a reminder to not just the OP, but myself and anyone else who comes across it that think that the “solution” feature is just a way to garner acknowledgement or a promotion (such as “New Member” → “Member”), or forget that this category is open to others outside of the forum, who don’t always have the time to possibly scroll through tens or hundreds of detailed posts in order to find a solution that they may not understand due to skimming through.

Sorry if it seems as if I am, or was, pushing my ideals onto other people, because that wasn’t my intention.

EDIT: Everything listed above will probably be flagged and are just my personal opinions related to the matter.

Yes, this is indeed correct. I advise you to read the Terms of service as you may well find yourself terminated.
