Is it possible to create a 32k+ stud map?

Someone is making for me a large scale roblox map, around 32k studs, and I was told by others it is impossible to develop in studio and release a map of that size, is that possible or not?

There are multiple factors the quick answer is your budget not only for Development but your equipment. You need good enough equipment that you can make and test the game. You can go to crazy numbers without hitting a barrier you can test it here. But no matter the size you cannot fit 32K on a base plate I believe the max a base plate can be is 2300 something. Your players will also have a lot of lag or just might not be able to play at all. I feel like this is a cool idea but overall the odds are against you.

very much possible, for what reason would you do that? no idea, it’s gonna be a pain to venture through; but yeah, it’s possible

at around 40k studs away from origin, polygons slightly looks weird, but I think it is not noticeable

Maybe it’s possible?
for the max size of a basepart will be 2048

anything is possible just how much lag are you willing tolerate?

Yes that’s true, if you go too far out from the origin then everything becomes distorted and runs a lot more slowly. I’ve tried it myself after being flung and turning gravity off, animations lag and it just feels like you are entering a black hole or something. I’m pretty sure it is way more apparent at around 500k studs but even then it probably depends more on the hardware capability than Roblox itself.

@p_yth this is probably not a good idea just because of this. There’s no way to guarantee what will happen to the player on such a scale. If you want to test it yourself, by all means. I think it’s something worth looking into, but not something to rely on exactly.

I have once created a 15K+ stud smooth terrain map, the actual game had little to no lag but the studio though… I had trouble further developing the map due to the instudio lag and very long loading times.

I would suggest to keep your maps at 10K studs large and wherever possible to chip away as much of useless terrain possible.

I am pretty sure the radius from origin to ~20k or <25k is safe

Not too sure why you’d want to make such an over sized map but its definitely possible

If you actually do go through with this I would love to see haha
