Is my approach to Game Design all wrong?

When I feel a game idea is good, I can work incredibly quickly. However, none of my ideas felt like they were any good after I get to the stage of a prototype. Or maybe my execution of them was poor.

You can check out most of my work here:

I’ve never taken a game from prototype to something I consider fully polished because I don’t feel my ideas are unique and fun enough to compete with the other games on the platform. I’m afraid to spend so much time on a project and fail. But instead, I’ve spent a lot of time on multiple small projects and, consequently, none of them have the power to succeed. I’ve decided it’s time to change my approach and finally take something from a prototype to a polished project, I’m ready to spend time and money doing this.

My topic is similar to a lot of threads from a few years ago, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s removed. But I wonder if anyone has taken the liberty of creating resources for game ideation in the few years between this post and the ones in the past. Maybe I am putting too much emphasis on the idea when the execution of the game is what matters more. Regardless, in the next 24 hours, I want something to work on that I believe in. I felt I’ve dawdled for far too long.

is your question what you should make next, or are you asking for help because you don’t have the drive to make games anymore?

Yes, my question is what I should make next. I was wondering if there are resources that teach good game design for the Roblox platform.

If I don’t find anything, I’m just going to work on becoming an intern.

well I am working on a game that I really like, and I thought of it by taking the features of my favorite games and mushing them together (with some exceptions, some things don’t mix)

I think Roblox themselves has videos on game design.

This is cool, thanks for sharing. Any particular videos you would recommend?

I haven’t seen any of the videos myself, but the Core Loop and Prototyping videos seem like good options if you’re struggling to design an enjoyable game.
