Hey everyone! Me and my team have been working on out new game Hyperspace for a few months now and we have recently released the pre-alpha version however, the game is not getting many visits. How can we make this game more fun or engaging? Thanks!
I have a lot of feedback for you: First of all, the game is quite confusing at first; a tutorial of some sorts would be helpful (yes, I realized the help menu, but it mainly explains the controls rather than what to do). It was overwhelming for me at first because I had no idea where to go or what I was even supposed to do, so maybe make some system that instructs you “go over here to purchase your spaceship” and “fly over here to mine this ore”.
Second, flying ships and mining weren’t very engaging to me. I found that the movement and camera position from inside the spaceship was a bit difficult to maneuver, and mining felt very tedious since I was just clicking and waiting and clicking and waiting for a few minutes per ore chunk. Perhaps try to improve the spaceship controls (though I admit it’s probably hard to make mobile-compatible spaceship controls), and make some sort of minigame interface with a little game for mining ore so that it’s not just a click-and-wait loop.
Finally, I want to talk more about the visit count. If you make the game fun enough to keep people coming back for more, it will increase. In addition to that, spending some robux to make advertisements will help get some players to find your game, and if they like it they will keep playing. Players will rarely just appear out of nowhere; you typically have to lure them in somehow through some form of advertisement.
Overall, I think the game has a lot of potential, but it needs some more polish and more engaging features. Once I mined two ore chunks and sold them, I felt like I had done everything in the game. I would recommend making the mining and flying process more fun rather than tedious, and making some more content and a tutorial. But otherwise, you’ve got a good start, just keep working on it and eventually you’ll bring in hundreds of players.
