Is sponsoring/advertising a game really essential for it's success?

I made a game and released it 2 days ago, it got a few visits but still it feels like a dead game with 0 active players.
I’m hesitant as to whether or not I should sponsor the game to get more visits.

Should I wait for the Roblox algorithm to do it’s thing? or do I sponsor the game on the weekend? is sponsoring worth it? (10 sponsor credits)

You have to get it out there somehow. The “algo” doesn’t have any signal if the game isn’t getting visits to begin with.

I mean it’s getting 20-30 new visits a day, some people returned after playing it, and it’s currently at 2k visits.

Yes, unless you already have a huge following.

If you’re serious about game development and you think your game actually has a shot then you should look for investors for the project to help you get it out there.

Sounds good but I got one last question, how much do you think anyone would spend when sponsoring their game, I was planning to do 10 credits which is the minimum, I don’t think it’ll do very bad either.

10 is for sure very low you will get some players but not too many.

I can’t tell you an estimate, It’s hard for me to tell because I also run ads for my game but it’s stictly a Fandom game so my play rate is a lot lower than the average because it doesn’t really appeal to everyone. If your game is something similar expect very low play rates.

The new roblox Ad system is not superb at all, it’s hard to appeal to players. So my advice is run your 10 credits, make sure that your Icon is very appealing (Ask for feedback on the forums if you need) and see how it goes. 10 credits is a nice trial amount.

I did not sponsor yet, I’m trying to see how the game does in the next few days.

It’s getting 5-10 new visits a day, it used to be 20-30 but the game was taken down and it’s not doing as good when I brought it back up, players immediately leave because they can’t find a second player to play with (it’s a 2 player based game), that’s why I’m still considering sponsors.

Thanks for your feedback!

Oh, I meant the thumbnails you’ll be using for ads

I’m not gonna use ads actually :sob:
I plan on sponsoring since it’s more effective, but still how good do you think the game would do with this icon and thumbnail?

Oh well

Ok here are some nice changes to do when you sponsor:

P.S. Something I forgot to include in image: add a rock, a paper and a scissors icon on top so players understand more easily and faster that RPS means Rock Paper Scissors
