I am wondering if I should use Roblox studio or if I should use blender?
Studio is for low poly basic modeling, While blender is an advanced high-poly modeling software.
So if you want to make detailed items, then you should be using blender.
But if you want to make undetailed builds, then just use roblox studio.
Hey @ValuedStonks!
This is not a fair comparison.
Studio & Blender work together as a workflow and should both be learned in tandem.
Response to @yousefoyoy
This is an overly generalized answer. Blender / Studio do not have one absolute usecase. To explain to Lancmo that Blender’s usecase is purely “high-poly modeling” is damaging and naive. It presents the thought of “oh so I don’t need to learn it”, “why bother” while in reality it would have been more helpful to present a nuanced response in how they work together and shouldn’t be juxtaposed.
Also it can’t be stressed enough, “LowPoly” isn’t a style, it’s a method of 3D Modeling that leans toward sharp edges and simple topology. Studio is not a modeling software. It is a world building software / game creating application.
My Answer
Both are part of a workflow, you should master studio first so you can better utilize the program’s tools in order to orchestrate the developing process.
As it stands, Blender compliments studio by allowing you to create shapes performantly that you wouldn’t be able to create with ROBLOX primitives, or CSG (Unions / Negates).
If you want to scale your world and make it believable, build one way walls, texture, lower gross triangle count while maintaining quality and playability I highly urge you to utilize.
TLDR:
Both should be learned. Do studio first so you know what you’re doing, Blender will scale your game.
