Is there a limit to how much data I can pass to a RemoteEvent all at once? If there is, would it be possible for me to pass a string from the client to the server that has the size of 2 megabytes or a little more larger? I need to dump Luau bytecode to a pastebin-like website, but since HttpService can not be used on the client, I need to pass it to the server for it to perform the request. I can not display huge amounts of data on the client too, as bytecode does not really get displayed on dev console or TextBoxes, and even if it was possible to display bytecode in a TextBox, it will reach the limit and the data would get cut off. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
I’m pretty sure it is around 2^11 bytes, but it might be less or more. (That is, per call so you can probably divide the data into segments and send it that way)
Apparently the documentation used to list a limit of 50kb/s per second, however that has since been removed so we can only check using testing. As one ‘character’ in a string is equivalent to 1 byte of data, it can be tested by seeing how large a string can be sent. (Testing was made difficult by script execution time out)
Because of the duration it takes to generate a string with lots of characters, I only did up to 8000000 bytes (8MB (assuming 1KB = 1000B and stuff))

I tested it both going from Client to Server, and Server to Client. Both times it was able to send at least 8MB of data, and only took a few minutes to process the string generation.
I discovered a better way to generate the long strings, being able to generate strings up to the overflow amount very quickly
However, now I face another issue:

Roblox definitely has some limit, and they kick the player if they try to send more than it.
2^25 bytes send, but closes your connection to the server…

2^24 byte (16MB) sends and is received.

So the actual limit must lie somewhere between 2^24 and 2^25 bytes (16MB and 32MB (where 1KB = 1024B)). I don’t have the patience to test this but the code is provided if someone else wnats to

Split your large string into smaller pieces and send them sequentially via RemoteEvents, then reconstruct on the server. Sending a 2MB string in one go is very likely to cause issues such as lag, dropped events, or data truncation.
There is no officially documented fixed limit for RemoteEvent data size, but Roblox imposes practical limits internally that effectively restrict very large payloads. (according to research)
A safe payload size for a single RemoteEvent is generally under 50 to 100 kilobytes. So at 100 kilobytes per split, that would come to about 21 splits for 2 megabytes.

Thank you for your reply. Not sure if this is useful information or not but I was able to pass 7-9 bufferdatas AT ONCE through a RemoteEvent (and this happened multiple times within a few seconds). I only had problems when it got to 15-25 bufferdatas (or a little more?). I just am not sure how the server handles 16-18 being sent at one time, one from every player. The bufferdatas are only a little over 1MB, not sure how this impacts it also.
Edit: It only disconnected me on one device (the one that was sending it) and not any others.
Well, you wouldn’t have to send them at the same time. In fact, not doing that would make it a lot easier with a slight pause (0,01). Also, I’m not sure if this is useful information or not either. I did add an eyeroll…
The second one there, if possible in your case, seems a bit more viable.
I just finished up some excessive testing, and here’s my results.
I don’t know how this could cause differences with a server full of players, but I was able to successfully and effortlessly pass 93 bufferdatas through a RemoteEvent (in a table) in a live server (but only 1 other player). I only disconnected when I sent 93*2 (186ish). I don’t know how safe I am from potential disconnections and server lag, but that is insanely high of a limit to meet.
I tested also on a phone that was on limited mobile data, and it still sent 93 but with a 10-ish second delay.
This should be my final post here, but these findings make me question a-lot about how I thought data limits were.

Thanks, but it does send every 3-5 seconds. But I meant that the phone had an uncontrollable 10ish delay from the lag because of the many amounts of buffers (they weren’t gapped, they were sent all at once-all 94). But the normal sending is pretty quick!
