In the picture below, I have two plots. I can’t simply turn off shadows for specific parts, because I want the shadows to show within a plot (like with the left pillar). However, I don’t want shadows from one plot to show on another plot (like with the right pillar). Is there any way I can achieve this that doesn’t involve moving the plot/sun locations?
I don’t believe that there is a way to fix this other than moving the plots or the sun.
You can actually use Highlight to do this,
it will work, if you want your part to be smoothplastic, if you want texture, it’s seems that the best solution for you is either to use clientsided lighting, like customizable lighting that player can tune, or simply to put the sun on top slighty tilted so that shadow appears but not enough to go on other plot.
Interesting, this is definitely getting closer. Players are supposed to be able to build on their plots, though, so this wouldn’t stop shadows from appearing on their builds since each part has its own color/material. I’d like to avoid changing the sun’s position because changing the angle of the shadows (making them travel less distance) makes the place look significantly worse
I’m afraid that their is no other way to do that, maybe you can disable cast shadow from all the other player excepted you (the player)
I feel like you are too picky with The shadows. Unless it genuinely harms gameplay, you will be fine. Shadows exist in real life too.
I guess it’s about player building tower to steal the sunlight lol
It’s a voxel building game, and depending on the plot that you’re on, your plot might be eclipsed completely by the plot in front/to the side of it. Players can build up to 250 studs high, so you can imagine how it could be problematic. I personally didn’t mind it too much, but after seeing a few tall builds and players voicing the same concern I realized it’s an issue that I should address
If there’s nothing I can do about it, I’ll probably end up changing the lighting, but I’d really like to avoid that if possible.
