Is there a way to transfer assigned materials to a UV map?

Greetings!

I’m trying to copy the colors over to the UV map. I’m using a simple cube to do this, however, I’m wanting to start working with skinnable meshes so it’s vital that I learn this process if the mesh requires more than one color. (NPCs usually)

I’ve looked up tutorial videos for a couple of hours now and nothing seems to give me the answers needed. I’m not trying to add an image onto the cube but kind of reverse engineer that concept and create an image based off of the cubes color.

Pretty sure you can bake the material as a texture and export that

You can bake the texture. Make sure the UV’s don’t intersect, They will basically overlap the other UV face or island. Make sure your render engine is cycles, after which you should go to “Bake” In the same tab where in the cycles is. Make sure your materials have “image texture” nodes just right by NOT CONNECTED, and assigned to the image you want to have the texture in.
