What do you want to achieve? No lag, even though I believe that’s simply impossible
What is the issue? My game lags A LOT and drains down to 31 fps, before it ran at 60 without dropping
What solutions have you tried so far? I’ve tried cutting down on PBR textures and such, however WE do not want to downgrade the game’s graphics.
As you can see here this is quite a lot of lag and it’s just not good… I know this isn’t code related because it worked perfectly fine before I added in this cave model (our own property)
Also, the lag doesn’t have anything to do with my PC, it’s the game itself.
I’ll say it, I believe that WE NEED roblox studio upgraded so we can do actual proper games instead of relying on low poly and such, like come on, this is 2023… I’m tired of limiting myself because of engine limitations.
I don’t see any lag there, that looks really smooth for roblox.
But if you are really concerned, try making moving parts on the client and only when the player is close to them. try to de-load assets out of view from the player by having render “Zones”.
It would be nice if Roblox actually upgraded their own engine, instead of us developers having to seek a workaround for lag because of a poor game engine.
roblox isn’t designed for high texture/graphic games tbh, I’d love to see more “realistic” style but I feel that’s still years off so for now we are stuck with an old (but still very functional) platform to use. I agree that PBRs are a step in the right direction, however it would make sense to work on upgrading the way the system actually runs before adding all this other stuff like AI (useless imo) and shorelines that cause terrain ripping.
“Upgraded their engine”, well what proposals do you have to “upgrade” their engine besides saying something incredibly vague?
Roblox is fairly optimized considering the fact that they are targeted to even low end devices even with all the new updates like PBR and FIB3. You state “so we can do actual proper games instead of relying on low poly and such”, while there are numerous games out there similar to Frontlines that don’t have your issue dropping down to 30 FPS.
You can’t just ask for support but provide the bare minimum details about your game while saying incredibly vague things such as “upgrade”. What exactly does that even mean? Are you asking for occlusion culling? Were you able to deduce that the framerates dropped because of all the PBR textures? Are we supposed to assume that you have a high performance computer that has no bottlenecking issues? How big is the map, and what kind of objects are you using in that cave model?
It’s no brainer that there are obviously limitations in this platform but your post seems to be more directed at the classic blaming Roblox more than providing anything really constructive or helpful in achieving your “upgraded engine” that you stated multiple times because you choose to be more concerned with pointing fingers than getting support by providing insightful details.
Even providing details about the number of PBR textures you used, or even just showing the microprofiler could help explain some things so you can get the help you need, but you seem to have a much different motive.
