Is there way to turn meshes into union? (something as close like that)

Hello everyone, i have a question for all of you who are reading this.

Today i just finished building a model and i’m trying to make an animation using the model, so i decided to rig it.
The problem is that the model i made was using meshes so i wasn’t able to union the body parts together and rig them. So i tried to convert them into meshes by importing them in blender but, the materials i used dissappear and would become a regular smooth plastic material. I tried another way to do it by making textures first but since i was an amateur builder it was too complicated for me. So if you have any ideas on how to fix this it would be great, thank you for reading this.

Not sure if you can make the meshes into unions. I tried a few days ago for something I was doing and it just said something like that you can’t do that.

You should weld anything on the left arm to the left arm, right arm to the right arm, torso to the torso, etc. then rig only the normal body rig, arms. torso, legs, head, humanoid. And then since its welded if the thing it’s welded to moves it moves with it. Hope this helped!

Follow the head instructions when he rigs the spider. He welds the face items to the head and then rigs the head normally
