I’m asking because I need to be sure. I’ve been working on the game and what if it won’t work?
Basically the game is low-poly roblox racing with PvP and many cars to choose from.
The goal is complete the race course with the players arriving first place getting most coins.
Maps are chosen based on the average player’s level in total. So if the lobby has many high lvl players the map chosen will be more difficult.
The whole game is centered around racing. There’s no grind or pay2win or any frustration. It’s just fun for everyone. It’s not a cash grab. It will always stay true to its purpose.
Basic low level maps are low speeds and relaxed and are safe. New players familiarize with the controls and the looks of the game. The focus is on making it to the finish line fast.
As the levels go higher the cars go faster and the maps become difficult to navigate through. Players crash more often and it gets difficult.
As the map levels go even higher. Players die more often and the maps become difficult to complete. Players are encouraged to drive together so as to not get concentrated on by the AIs that try to destroy the players.
The maps will vary greatly and there is room for new cars.
Robux earned is through special cars or coin boosters or gamepasses.
Will this be a success? Will it be well received by the community? The majority of popular games are plagiarized or focused on PvP like shooting or roleplaying. Thoughts?
The idea of bringing difficult maps for high level players and easy maps for low level players is insane. This brings a fair gameplay to the game. But if the lobby has many high level players and some low level players, the map will be difficult and the low level player will not be able to reach the high level players and will end up in last place, and that is not fair. You think of an idea to adjust this would be great. Also, there is already a game with an aesthetic like that. It is the Driving Simulator, and it is better known, so players will not play your game, but Driving Simulator. So thinking about more ideas would be much better and will make your game unique. Anyway, your idea is insane and great, good job, and I can’t wait to play your game!
If you were to make this, I’m not sure about forcing experienced players into the harder maps.
Lets say I was a high-level player. If I wanted a high-skill, high-stress way to spend my time - sounds great. If I want a relaxing time just having fun, my level locks me out of it. Likewise if I’m low level and want a challenge, I have to grind through possibly hours of boring training-wheels tracks.
Racing games tend to handle diversity in skill levels not by making each map have a certain difficulty level in mind, but offering multiple paths on the same track with different levels of challenge, rewarding the riskier paths.
I still don’t feel like this is as good an idea, especially having cars being objectively better than others. The way you describe it, a lv10 car can feasibly make it onto a lv5 track which just sounds like either an unfair advantage or a car playing in a space it was never designed for and not working.
I’m gunna stick to my guns and suggest that lateral progression is better than vertical progression. Unlocks should just be new ways to play, not objective improvements.
