Is this a malicous script?

My builder put a free model in our place but i want to make sure that this is not a malicous script from the free model

–Do not delete this script. This is what makes the board work.

require(389325813).Parent = script.Parent

I think you should paste this jumbled number into your Roblox URL to find the asset, then download it and insert it in studio, and show us what’s the script.

I put the url in the games page by replacing the hastag in the url with the number anyways it says its no longer available or should i just download it but i dont know if that will work thougth.

If its from a free model, most likely yes.

I believe this is the description of a donation board model? Make sure it’s a trusted one.
Here’s the most popular donation board, you can check if it’s the same one your builder placed.

he put that in their and i thoguth oh he must have created it just so we can make more robux as he’s getting a percentage pay and not a down payment but im still trying to figure out if he did this on purpose

yes it is getting a script id and parenting it to workspace so if you run the game it can do anything

short answer: Yes it’s bad, now delete the script

In short: A lot of malicious scripts use comments to discourage the deletion of the script making the users think that’s what makes the script functional, but a lot of the time when working with free models there are often scripts inside that require some external module which could do various different things like backdoor your game. So please do be sure to scan your models every time!

The weird thing is the model was pubblished by a guy who worked on the egg hunt 2019 event and the 2021 metaverse champions event so thats werid

I’ve checked the source of the script and didn’t see anything malicious.

Here’s the module that’s being required through that script.
roblox.com/library/389325813/Board

You shouldn’t trust any script that has “require()” in it. Why can’t they just put the script in the board itself?

Of course this doesn’t 100% mean its bad, but you still shouldn’t trust it.

If it is by Nitefal it is needed to allow your donation board to work lol Nitefal is secured

No becuase if they put it in the board by itself people can copy the code and make a virus out of it lol

Maybe because it’s easier to update that way without the creator needed to tell others to reinsert the model?

I’ve never created a model but maybe.

Every other model does it, and they end up with virus copies. That’s just how it works. Its just not worth the risk to insert a model when you don’t know exactly what it does.

Not really the donation board by “Nitefal” is an 1000000000000000000000000000% safe one and it has it for the module script it owns to create the board lol. I use it all the time and my games never have viruses becuase Nitefal is a trusted player to make models lol

Its your choice to do so. I still trust scripts already in the model much, much more. This way you know that whats in your game will stay that way and won’t change.

What if his account gets compromised? of course its a very low chance, but it’s possible. This is also why I almost never give plugins a ton of permissions, even if they are by trusted people.

Just because something has require doesn’t mean it is malicious. Make sure to always check but don’t automatically assume it’s a virus and delete it.

No, the script is not malicious at all. It’s part of Nitefal’s donation board. If you remove the script, the donation board will not work anymore.
