Is this against TOS?

So, basically I found a way how you can get music to play on Roblox for free locally. I was wondering if it is against TOS to distribute an “edited” version on Roblox to players.

Doing so you are able to bypass the need to pay to get music uploaded and the filter too.

I did this for an example. I put one of my recent songs into this folder:

Then edited the default Roblox sound script
image

Result:

I believe is someone has a load of images that they want to play as a video this would really benefit them. It could also include meshes, fonts, models, skyboxes and textures.

I don’t see this as wrong infact I think it allows developers a greater deal of control over the client. The possibilities are endless. HOWEVER, I don’t actually know if this works or if this is against TOS and what about asking users to modify their Roblox client. Is that allowed or not?

Don’t think so you’re just changing the audio in the Roblox folder

I think this might be against a lot of copyright laws.

You aren’t publishing anything to Roblox, so I don’t believe editing your local files is against the rules. It can’t be moderated, since nobody has access to those sounds except you.

Yeah. Don’t worry. I only really use my own music to see and test how it will sound in game first. Thanks for your help though.

The script itself is fine as it’s just referencing an audio that is saved locally on the Roblox client, however distributing music that is protected under copyright law is piracy, which is illegal in most countries - even if you are distributing it along with an ‘edited’ version of the Roblox client.
