Is this artwork good for beginners?

Hey guys!

Looking for feedback on some art I have worked on!

I will accept negative comments, because I want to learn!

It looks good, however I have some things to say (I’m sorry if I sound rude when saying this)

It seems like you’re still trying to figure out what style suits you best. That’s good, but try to work on some things;

  1. The edges look a bit jagged, try smoothing them out with a smoother brush or higher resolution.
  2. The goggles/glasses seem a bit too high; It’s good to have unique proportions, but don’t have them seem like they’re something that wouldn’t look human.
  3. Try to round the head so it doesn’t look as square, this way it’ll match your proportions a bit better.

Other than that, I’d say it looks great!

To me, the shapes are a bit unpleasing to the eye. Blobby. It looks like you are drawing with a mouse, which is how I started out.

I strongly believe that if you really want to start getting into digital artwork, even not like in a serious manor, you should try a drawing tablet.

I used to draw with a mouse all the time, and once I got a drawing tablet, it changed everything. Its a very important tool for your expression. (Also a nice art program, experiment!!1)

As far as stylizing goes, if you are looking to improve yourself, try copying other styles. Look closely, study what makes something you think looks good, good. Try and replicate it. If its too hard try something simpler. Its okay to copy other peoples styling in order to improve yourself and find your own style.

Maybe this is too deep, maybe not lol, but I have had a blast with digital art. I have never really found a true style, and I am always experimenting.

Heres my gallery if you want to take a look at some of the things I have done.

I think it’s a great style if it was used in a proper context. You should – with the same style, make a background and see how well it will look than, because right now, it just looks empty and not much effort was put in it.

Good work. :+1:

I am going to be straight to the point. You need to work heavily on making straight and smooth lines across the edges. I suggest using a program like illustrator to create those smooth lines.

I drew it by tablet. I’ll try and get into digital art!

It’s a great start! My suggestion would be to experiment more with pen pressure. Having a variety of line weights makes a drawing more interesting.

I think this artwork is in a pretty decent style, and I can say, boy, it’s much better than when I first started!

Now, the edges do look jagged - it’s easy to assume you’re drawing with a mouse. If you didn’t know already, there is a device called a “Graphics Tablet”. For a beginners tablet, I’d recommend a small sized Wacom tablet, one with just the pad, and without the screen!

If you currently do not have the funds to afford a Wacom tablet, you could always go into PaintTool SAI and experiment with the “Line Tool”. PaintTool SAI allows you to mimic pen pressure, and draw pretty smooth lines, with just clicking and dragging lines with your mouse.

I’m sure there’s a lot of other ways to mimic pen pressure/getting smoother lines, but that’s how I started out!

But good luck with your artwork!!
